Course Outline

Course Title: Introduction to Business Organization & Management


Credits: 1 (20 Sessions)
Type: Compulsory
Session Duration: 75 minutes
Term: I
Year: 2022
Faculty: Prof. M Goswami.

Introduction
The objective of this course is to provide main concepts of business organizations such as business
activities, different forms of business ownership, corporate social responsibility, business ethics,
international trade, management, human resource management, motivation and leadership. The students
will also be familiar about the functions of management, and they will be able to understand the strategic
management process and strategic alliances.
Course objectives
The specific objectives of the course are:
1) To know the concept of business organizations and spectrum of business activities
2) To understand different forms of business ownership and basic economies
3) To familiarize about managing strategy, organizational culture and entrepreneurship
4) To know about corporate social responsibility of business organisations and business ethics
5) To understand the concept of management
6) To know about human resource management, motivation and leadership
7) To familiarize about the functions of management
8) To understand the constraints and challenges for the global manager

Pedagogy
The pedagogy would be a mix of lectures, discussion, group exercises, assignments, quizzes.

Evaluation Scheme
Quizzes: 10%
Class assignments: 10%
Mid-term exam: 30%
Final exam: 50%
