1.0 GENERAL

This m e t h o d s t a t e m e n t covers on-site installation o f pipeworks f o r Bukit Bintang City

Centre (BBCC) at Jalan Pudu, Wilayah Persekutuan. This m e t h o d statement will describe

t h e installation o f pipeworks.

2.0 OBJECTIVE & SCOPE OF W O R K

The objective is t o o u t l i n e t h e w o r k m e t h o d o f p i p e w o r k installation. The w o r k shall b e

applied t o supply, deliver, install, testing and commissioning o f p i p e w o r k in accordance

t o approved shop d r a w i n g and specification.

3.2 Project Personnel Job Description(s)

a) Project M a n a g e r

The Project M a n a g e r is responsible f o r t h e overall execution o f t h e f i e l d w o r k

surrounding a research initiative and t o ensure t h e project's success. She/he w o r k s

directly w i t h t h e client t o d e v e l o p t h e project schedule, define t h e research

instrument develop an analysis plan and coordinate all communications. The Project

M a n a g e r also oversees t h e planning, i m p l e m e n t a t i o n and tracking o f a specific

project, and t o ensure t h a t t h e w o r k d o n e is accordingly t o t h e r e q u i r e m e n t a n d

specifications.

b) Project Engineer

The Project Engineer is responsible f o r all construction matters related t o t h e w o r k

as established by contract and regulatory requirements. She/he reports t o t h e

Project M a n a g e r and responsible f o r t h e c o n t r o l o f effective undertaking a n d

c o m p l e t i o n o f all construction / installation activities w i t h t h e assistance o f Project

Coordinator. The Project Engineer works directly with main-contractor, sub­

c o n t r a c t o r s ) and a n y t h i r d party contractor involved in t h e project.

b) Project C o o r d i n a t o r ( Q A / QC Personnel)

The Project Coordinator, in t h e area o f inspection and testing activities, reports t o

t h e Project Engineer in relation t o t h e activities. The Project C o o r d i n a t o r is

responsible f o r t h e receipt issue, distribution, recording, transmission, filling a n d

archiving o f all d o c u m e n t a t i o n as p e r d o c u m e n t c o n t r o l procedures.

c) The Project C o o r d i n a t o r is involved b u t n o t limited in t h e area as:-

i) Maintenance o f drawings and d o c u m e n t s registers

ii) Ensuring information, instructions, requisition o r works report is in p r o p e r

circulation.

iii) To record and collect instruction / i n f o r m a t i o n f r o m t h e Consulting Engineer

/ A r c h i t e c t and prepare d r a f t copies o f shop d r a w i n g / a s - b u i l t drawings f o r

Drafting Division t o incorporate f o r submission o f approval.

d) Site Supervisor(s)

The Project Foreman is responsible t o m o n i t o r t h e site progress closely and ensure

t h e w o r k d o n e safely, hence t o ensure t h e workers are c o m p l y i n g w i t h t h e health

and safety regulation, d a y - t o - d a y basis. She/he is also responsible t o handle site

daily, inspection and progress r e p o r t t o t h e Project M a n a g e r and Project Engineer.

e) Foreman

The Foreman is t o report t o t h e Project C o o r d i n a t o r f o r site activities, and t o ensure

ail t h e installation works are according t o t h e requirement and specification. The

Foreman works closely w i t h t h e Site Supervisor.

7.0 QUALITY CONTROL & D O C U M E N T A T I O N

7.1 Coordination

Logistic and c o o r d i n a t i o n w i t h o t h e r contractors are d o n e :

a. Daiiy M & E c o o r d i n a t i o n meetings chaired b y t h e Main Contractor and a t t e n d e d

b y all subcontractors.

b. D a y - t o - d a y matters requiring subcontractors' c o o p e r a t i o n are resolved a m o n g

Main Contractor, Project Engineer and representatives o f o t h e r contractors.

7.2 Shop Drawing & Material A p p r o v a l

The subcontractors responsible f o r t h e installation o f air-conditioning a n d mechanical

ventilation services will s u b m i t shop drawings accompanied b y full technical details

and literature t o g e t h e r w i t h samples o f f i t t i n g s and materials f o r inspection a n d

approval b y t h e Project Engineer.

7.3 Delivery o f Material t o Site

A n y material delivered t o site, t h e Q A / Q C shall be informed and inspected by

consultant's site staffs and shall be p r o v e d w i t h delivery o r d e r (DO). All e q u i p m e n t

and materials will be handled in such a m a n n e r as n o t t o d a m a g e t h e i t e m and hence

its performance. Damaged, dented, o r rejected material shall be r e m o v e d f r o m site

immediately.
