Delhi is India’s fantastic capital. There are beautiful historical monuments and modern
buildings, shopping centres and restaurants. From here, you can go to some of India’s best
tourist places like the Taj Mahal, Rajasthan and the Himalayas.
Delhi’s spring, from February to April, is sunny with warm days and cool nights. The
weather can change a lot and very quickly but it gets warm quickly. Holi, the Hindu
“Festival of Colours”, happens in March to celebrate the spring. During Holi, people are
in the streets and they throw coloured powder at one another. Late spring and early
summer are the best times to visit the Himalaya regions and discover Tibet.
Summer, from April to June, is very hot in Delhi. It’s the hottest season and in May it can
be 45°C or hotter and there are huge thunderstorms. There are lots of Amaltas trees in
Delhi and they are full of yellow flowers in summer.
There are many festivals in Delhi. In April, the Baisakhi Festival is a celebration
with traditional dancing. Then in May, the Buddha Hayanti (Triple Blessed Festival)
celebrates Buddha’s birthday.
It can rain a lot in Delhi. Monsoon, or the “Rainy Season”, happens in July after the
hot summer, when temperatures go down. Delhi is not as rainy as other parts of the
