1. GENERAL
The OE 370 oiler is one of the most important units on drilling rig. Its purpose is to provide
sufficient lubrication for DTH-hammer under varying drilling conditions and situations. Suffi-
cient and accurate lubrication is made possible by regulating the amount of oil in the pres-
surized air.

2. SAFETY
Always follow the safety instructions and be careful with your work.
Service and adjustment procedures are only allowed to persons who
have been given specific service training. Read the instructions before
any adjusting or repairing.
CAUTION

High pressure air injection hazard. Can cause severe injury. Make sure
the compressor is stopped and pressure released before removing
any components.

6. DESCRIPTION OF OPERATION

1 2

The oiler function is activated when the

“Flushing ON” (1) or “Flushing and dust
collector ON” (2) button on the drilling
control joystick is pushed.
The timer relay in the main electric box
activates the solenoid 2Y1 in the oiler
electro-magnetic valve, which allows the
pressurized air to flow to the oil pump.
The pump pushes oil to the DTH-ham-
mer air line and then pauses for a set
time when the relay disconnects current
from the solenoid, according to the
potentiometer setting.
The timer relay also lits the indicator
lamp in the control panel when the pump
is activated.

7. OIL FILLING AND DRAINING

1 42

When the warning light in the control

panel indicates low oil level, open the fill-
ing cap (1) and fill with DTH-hammer oil.
See lubrication recommendation for oil
quality requirements.
The oil drain plug is in the bottom of the
oiler.

8. REPLACING THE WATER SEPARATOR FILTER

• Make sure there is no pressure in the

pneumatic system.
• Turn the filter element (1) counter-
clockwise, remove it and replace with
a new one.

9. ADJUSTING THE PRESSURE REGULATOR

1. Make sure the adjusting screw (1) is com-

pletely screwed out
(counterclockwise).

If the pressure regulator is

adjusted to higher pressure
than 13,8 bar (200 psi), the
CAUTION components inside the oiler
may be damaged.
2. Start the machine.
3. Turn the adjusting screw (1) clockwise
until the pressure gauge indicates 4 bar. *
Operating air pressure:
Minimum - 4 bars (60 psi) *
Maximum - 13,8 bars (200 psi)
cw = increase
* Standard air regulator setting
ccw = decrease

10. ADJUSTING THE AMOUNT OF OIL IN AIR LINE

The amount of oil in the pressurized air is adjusted by controlling the working frequency and
volume of the pump which pushes oil into the pneumatic system. The pressure gauge on
the oiler deflects and light in the control panel is lit when the pump operates.

Pump volume
1. Add oil to the pump reservoir as required.
2. Using a screwdriver, turn the volume adjust-
ing screw (1) in (clockwise) completely and then
out (counterclockwise) by the following table.
10 turns CCW - 2,3 l/h (0,62 gal/h) *
16 turns CCW - 3,8 l/h (1,00 gal/h)
20 turns CCW - 4,7 l/h (1,25 gal/h)
* Original factory setting
(Above values apply with timer set at 2 second intervals)
3. Open the air bleed screw (2) in the pump
4. Start the machine and activate the lubricator.
2
5. Adjust the timer as described below.
6. Check the lubricating indicator light in the con-
trol panel for the ON/OFF cycle operation.
cw = decrease 7. Tighten the pump bleed screw.
1 ccw = increase
8. Remove the output hose connection at the air
discharge piping to bleed the hose and to
ensure oil flow.

Pump working frequency

The working frequency of the oiler pump is con-
trolled by the timer relay in the main electric box.
The left potentiometer sets the injection (ON)
time in seconds and the right potentiometer the
pause time (OFF) in seconds.
The default setting is
1s ON - 10s OFF.

11. PNEUMATIC PUMP

11.1. Description of operation

OIL

AIR

OIL

Lubricant enters through pump port (F), filling pumping chamber (G). Pressurized air is
applied at cylinder port (H) moving the piston assembly forward, blocking the inlet and forc-
ing the lubricant out through check valve (J).
Piston stop (A) controls the quantity of discharge by limiting piston stroke. This piston is
spring returned to the prime position when the motivating force is relieved from port (H).
Residual pressure at port (H) must fall below 0,14 bar (2 PSI) to permit full return stroke of
the piston.
Air bleed (L) is provided for purging the pumping chamber. The stainless steel ball used in
the air bleed serves as a spare for the ball used in the outlet check valve assembly (J).

11.2. Overhaul

It is important that the pump be disassembled and assembled in the

order described below to avoid damage to the piston sleeve O-rings.
CAUTION

Adjustment gland Piston sleeve Power cylinder

assembly assembly Retainer washer assembly

Rear seal
Pump body ring Pump piston
(back)

Disassembly
1. Unthread and remove the power cylinder assembly.
2. Remove the retainer washer.
3. Unthread and remove the adjustment gland assembly.

CAUTION! Never remove the piston sleeve out of the adjustment gland
end of the pump body. Sleeve o-rings will be sheared by cross ports in
CAUTION the pump body.

4. Push the piston sleeve assembly out the back of the pump body.

Assembly
1. Install the adjustment gland assembly. Do not tighten fully.
2. Install the piston sleeve assembly. Be sure rear seal ring is in place before installing
retainer washer.
3. Assemble the power cylinder assembly, guiding the pump piston carefully into the pis-
ton sleeve assembly. Engage and fully tighten.
4. Snug up the adjustment gland last until it bottoms tightly against the piston sleeve
assembly.
