General Instructions: -

i. Question paper comprises five Sections – A, B, C, D, E and F. There are 37 questions in the question paper.
All questions are compulsory.

ii. Section A - From question 1 to 20 are MCQs of 1 mark each.

iii. Section B - Question no. 21 to 24 are Very Short Answer Type Questions, carrying 2 marks each.
Answer to each question should not exceed 40 words.

iv. Section C - contains Q.25to Q.29 are Short Answer Type Questions, carrying 3 marks each. Answer
to each question should not exceed 60 words

v. Section D – Question no. 30 to 33 are long answer type questions, carrying 5 marks each. Answer to
each question should not exceed 120 word

vi. Section-E - Questions no from 34 to 36 are case based questions with three sub questions and are
of 4 marks each

vii. Section F- Question no. 37 is map based, carrying 5 marks with two parts, 37a from History
(2 marks) and 37b from Geography (3 marks)

viii. There is no overall choice in the question paper. However, an internal choice has been provided
in few questions. Only one of the choices in such questions have to be attempted

Once the monsoons subside, average temperatures gradually fall across India. As the Marks
Sun's vertical rays move south of the equator, most of the country experiences
moderately cool weather. December and January are the coldest months, with the
lowest temperatures occurring in the Indian Himalayas.
North India experiences winters in the months of October to March, as this time the
weather remains pleasant and mildly cold to very cold and temperature ranges
between a freezing -2°C to 14°C. Winters last till March in North India.
The winter season is affected by cold waves brought about by sea waves from the
West. During this season the low-pressure systems originate over the Mediterranean

36 Read the given extract and answer following questions: - 4
The main purpose of elections is to give people a chance to choose their Marks
representatives, the government and the policies they prefer. Therefore, it is
necessary to have a free and open discussion about who is a better representative,
which party will make a better government or what is a good policy. This is what
happens during election campaigns. In our country such campaigns take place for a
two-week period between the announcement of the final list of candidates and the
date of polling. During this period the candidates contact their voters, political
leaders address election meetings and political parties mobilise their supporters. This
is also the period when newspapers and television news are full of election related
stories and debates. But the election campaign is not limited to these two weeks

place.
