Lesson 7 – End User Applications

Lesson Overview

This lesson provides an outline for understanding the usage of various end-user applications. This
includes MS Office, open office, web browsers, emails, chats, LAN games and Internet games.

Lesson Objectives

Upon completion of this course, the trainees will be able to:

 Familiarize the function of each end- user applications

 Compare and evaluate each web browser.
 Know how to create email address and compose text and voice messages.
 Know how to chat using voice and text of yahoo messenger.
 Familiarize various kind of LAN games
 Familiarize various kind of Internet games
 Opening MS Office files

1. Open any Microsoft Office application.

2. Click on file  open
 Saving MS Office files
1. Click on file  save / save as
2. Specify a name if you want to use a different name
3. Check the file type.
 Opening OpenOffice Files

1. Open any OpenOffice.org application

2. Click on file  open
 Saving OpenOffice Files
1. Click on file button then select save / save as
2. Specify a name if you want to use a different name
3. Check the file type.
 Opening MS Office file in OpenOffice
1. Open an openoffice application
2. Click file  open
3. In the “files of type” box make it sure to select the exact MS office file type
that you wish to open.

 Using Webcam in Yahoo Messenger

1. Be sure that the webcam is already connected to the PC.

2. In yahoo messenger click on the name of the contact that you wish to see your
webcam.
3. Click on the webcam icon.

1. Be sure that the headset is already connected to the PC.
2. In yahoo messenger click on the name of the contact that you wish to voice chat
3. Click on the handset icon.
