LESSON PLAN IN SCIENCE 3

CHANGES THAT MATRERIALS UNDERGO
I. OBJECTIVES
A. Content Standard  Described ways of separating mixtures
 Identified changes that materials undergo.
 Described harmful and useful changes.
B. Performance Standard  Students should be able to identify the kind of change.
 Student should be able to differentiate between
physical and chemical change.
 Students should be able to appreciate the importance
of physical and chemical changes
C. Learning Competency  Described changes in the materials because of
temperature such as solid to liquid; liquid to solid;
liquid to gas; and solid to gas.
1. Unpacked Competency  The students will understand the changed of matter
and how they formed.
II. SUBJECT MATTER
A. Topic  Changes in Matter
 Matter is anything that has weight and takes up space.
Everything you can see, and touch is made up of
matter. Matter exists in three main forms: solids,
B. Science Ideas
liquids, and gases. It also has properties that we can
describe through density, solubility, conductivity,
magnetism, etc.
C. Science Processes  Understanding, observing, predicting and classifying.
D. Value Focus  Knowing the importance of changes in matter.
E. Materials  Textbooks, video, visual aid, and pictures.
F. References  Chemistry pp.140
Other Learning Resources
III. LEARNING ACTIVITIES
A. Engage
 Prayer, checking of attendance by the class monitor
1. Drill
and checking the room atmosphere
2. Review  What is matter? Do matters undergo changes?
B. Explore
 Provide a picture of physical change and ask the
1. Motivation
students what changes happened.
2. Presentation  Present a video that discuss the changes in matter.
 Ask the students of what they understand on the vide
3. Pre-Activity
that the teacher present.
 The students will answered the activity below based
on their understanding;

4. Activity Proper

C. Explain
 Students need to group in 3 to 5 members and explain
1. Group Reporting
the changes in matter.
2. Discussion  The teacher will discuss more about the changes in
matter so the student will understand more about the
lesson or topic
D. Elaborate
 Let us try to revies the changes in matter and how they

formed.
 The teacher will ask the students what they learned
2. Application
about the topic.
 In 1 whole sheet of paper answer this question
1. Is a kind of change of matter that the intensive
properties do not change.
E. Evaluate
2. Is a kind of change of matter that a new substance
is formed. (3-5) Identify whether the change is
