I own a Breville BES870 machine. Had an issue with pressure, buzzing noise,
pump seems to be working, but pressure not going up. So i replaced solenoid,
but problem still appear. Tried different things to find out the issue, removed
red wire from solenoid and accidentally touched ground with solenoid wire.
That blow a transistor. Cant find one to buy, maybe some one know what kind
it is or some one has a pcb schematic. Thanks in advance.
These trick with these is to get a good match as they can have different
Emitter-Base-Collector orders on the Leads. A photo of the Transistor will
assist much (or if you can with a magnifying glass just read the numbers on the
face of the Transistor/TRIAC). If the Transistor was obliterated, the Grinder
Transistor/TRIAC chip should be the same . . . its just a little above the one
that blew up on the other side of the rectangular Film Capacitor (that likely
has X2 on it).
When the triac blew by a hard short to ground, there could be chances that
the trigger circuit, usually just a resistor connected to the center pin of the
triac, gets burnt as well. And if that indeed happened, the processor chip
usually would not survive, and you'd end up replacing the entire control board
assembly. So locate and inspect the other components by following the PCB
trace coming off the triac center pin. you can also replace the blown triac
with the other one that controls the 2nd solenoid and see if the function
restores.
In your opening post, where you mentioned replacing the solenoid, I assume
you replaced the solenoid on the 3-way valve. did you also replace the valve
itself as well?
Some years back I had a BES840XL that had the random buzzing and pressure
fluctuation problem. I hunted it down to a failing 3-way valve not sealing well
when energized. I could have fixed it with a replacement valve, but decided
to try a DC drive mod that I came up with myself, and it worked surprisingly
well. I had a post about that mod.

Thank you so much for long informative answer. Yes i replaced 3 way solenoid, Joined: 6 months ago
with a new one. But i didn't replace the valve. When i took apart i seemed
clean inside.

Thanks again for info. After resoldering triac solenoid is alive again. Very Joined: 6 months ago
happy didn't burn anything else still buzzing, so i will try to use ultrasonic
bath and vinegar on valve.
