How to Use a Stethoscope :

1. Buy a good quality stethoscope.

A good quality stethoscope is important. The better the quality of the stethoscope, the easier it will be
to hear the patient's body sounds.

2. Adjust the stethoscope listening device.

Make sure the earpiece is facing forward and is sized at your ear. Otherwise, you may not be able to
hear anything with the stethoscope

3. Check the pressure of the earpiece on the stethoscope.

In other words, make sure it's positioned enough against your head, but not too tight. If it's too tight or
too loose, readjust it.

4. Select the appropriate chest piece or stethoscope drum for your stethoscope.

There are different types of chest pieces for stethoscopes. the option that best suits your needs. Chest
pieces are available in various sizes for adults and children.
5. Choose a quiet place to use the stethoscope

Use the stethoscope in a quiet place. Find an area to make sure you can hear the patient's body sounds
and aren't disturbed by noise or noise in the room.

6. Position the patient

To hear heart and stomach sounds, place the patient in a supine position. To listen to lung sounds.
Heart, lung, and abdominal sounds can be heard differently depending on the position of the patient.
For example sitting, standing, lying left or right.

7. Decide whether to use a diaphragm or a bell

The diaphragm or flat side of the stethoscope drum is better for listening to high-pitched sounds. The
bell or concave side of the stethoscope drum is better for listening to low-pitched sounds.

8. Ask the patient to put on clothes or take off clothes so that the skin is not covered

Use the stethoscope directly on the skin to avoid the sound of ripples coming from the fabric. If your
patient is a man with a lot of chest hair, press the stethoscope firmly enough to avoid a swishing sound.
