7:00 – 8:00 am 9 – Hidalgo
9:20 – 10:20 am 9 – Florentino
10:20 – 11:20 am 9 – Yangco
11:20 – 12:20 am 9 – Ricarte
DAY 18
I. OBJECTIVES
A. Content Standards The students show understanding of the fact that traits of organisms are
inherited through different patterns.
B. Performance Standards
C. Learning Competencies/ Code: Code: S9LT-Id-29
Specific Objectives 1. Describe the pattern of inheritance following the principle of incomplete
dominance.
2. Make a Punnett square to solve incomplete dominance.
3. Cite the advantages of incomplete dominance in agriculture
II. CONTENT
A. Subtopic Pattern of Inheritance : Incomplete Dominance
B. Concepts INCOMPLETE DOMINANCE

 The offspring will have a phenotype intermediate to the phenotype of both

parents.
 This means neither of the two alleles is completely dominant, and the
heterozygous will be a new phenotype
III. LEARNING RESOURCES
A. References
Teacher’s Guide pages Grade 9 Science Teacher’s Guide pages, 21 -22.
Learner’s Material pages Grade 9 Science Learner’s module, Unit II, Pages 3-4
B. Other Learning Resources  Veronica Simundo Bernas-Lucy Austria Maglep. Exploring the Realms
of Science Biology. Jo-Es Publishing House, 2011. Pages 250-260;
Phoenix Grade 9 Science pages 68-75.
IV. PROCEDURES /LEARNING TASKS
A. Reviewing previous lesson (Engage) MIX THE COLOR:
Using PPT presentation, call students to identify the answer on mixing color
activity.

B. Establishing/Presenting a purpose for Conduct a review about the followings terms by playing SHOPPEE GAMES:
the new lesson. (Elicit) Dominant

Guide Question:

 What did you observe on our mixing color activity?

 Did the pictures follow the law of Dominance? Why? Why not?
 If you will be the one to name that kind of pattern of inheritance what
will it be? Why?

C. Discussing new concepts and The students will perform the activity:
practicing new skill
( Explore) In snapdragons, flower color is controlled by incomplete dominance. The two
alleles are red (R) and white (W). The heterozygous genotype is expressed as
pink.
a. What is the phenotype of a plant with the genotype RR? ___________
b. What is the phenotype of a plant with the genotype WW? ___________
c. What is the phenotype of a plant with the genotype RW? __________
D. Developing mastery. (Explain) GUIDE QUESTIONS:
1. How does Incomplete Dominance occur?
2. How would assign letters (genes) in doing the Punnett square for the Incomplete
dominance?
3. How does Incomplete dominance differ from the Principle of dominance by Gregor
Mendel?
E. Finding practical applications of
 What are the advantages of incomplete dominance in industry? Economy?
concepts and skills in daily living. Agriculture?
(Elaborate)
F.Making generalizations and
abstractions about the lesson.
(Elaborate)
G. Evaluating learning. (Evaluate) On a 1/4 sheet of paper. Solve the following:
In snapdragons, flower color is controlled by incomplete dominance. The two alleles are
red (R) and white (W). The heterozygous genotype is expressed as pink. Show your
Punnett Square.
1. What is the phenotype of a plant with the genotype RR?
a. Red b. Pink c. White d. Red and White
2. What is the phenotype of a plant with the genotype rr?
a. Red b. Pink c. White d. Red and White
3. What is the phenotype of a plant with the genotype Rr?
a. Red b. Pink c. White d. Red and White
H. Additional activities for application Predict the phenotype of the offspring if a yellow angry bird is crossed with a red angry
bird. Make a Punnett a square for incomplete dominance.
