Content Standards The students exhibits knowledge of how newspapers


and other print media helps individuals to gather
current information in our daily life and how it
expose learners to real-world events and allows them
to dive deep into topics that interest them.
Performance Standards The students utilizes newspapers and other print
media to gather information and to convey emotions
as well as feelings through images, advertisement
and other visuals.
Learning At the end of the lesson, the students are expected

Opener: Task 1 CAN YOU FIND ME? (3 mins.)


The teacher presents a set of letters. The students
will connect the letters to produce a word that
answers the following questions:

1. A written or printed work consisting of pages


glued together along one side and bound in

2. A publication that contain current news and
cover a wide variety of fields such as politics,
business, sports, art, and science.

Activity: Task 2 SPELL ME IF YOU CAN (6 mins.)


Group the students into three learning groups. Each
groups will be given a set of letters and will answer
the questions by arranging themselves with their
preferred answers. The first group to finish will shout
their answer to be recognize.

Analysis: Task 3 SPEAK ALOUD! (3 mins.)


Based on the activities presented, students will
answer the following questions:
1. What do you observe in the activity?
2. Which among those print media do you use?
3. As a student, are those print media helpful? In
what way?

Abstraction: Task 4 STOP, LOOK, LISTEN, AND


LEARN (20 mins.)

The previous lesson talks about the electronic search


engines, now let us have another way of searching
information. Print media is the printed version of
delivering the news, basically through newspapers
and magazines.

Forms Of Print Media


Newspaper
-generally delivered at home, or are available
at newsstands, and it is the most inexpensive way to
quickly reach a huge mass of people.

Magazine
-provides detailed articles on various topics
like food, fashion, sports, lifestyle and so on.

Newsletter
-a publication that mostly covers one topic.

Books
-a medium for recording information in the
form of texts or images, typically compromised of
many pages.

Flyers
-a form of paper advertisement intended for
wide distribution and typically posted or distributed
in a public.

Brochures
-a promotional documents. Primarily used to
introduce a company, organizations or products to
customers or member of the public of the benefits.

Posters
-a usually large printed sheet that often
contains pictures and is posted in a public place.

Application: Task 3 WHAT DID I SAY? (10 mins.)


On the same group, leaders will pick a paper from
the box containing a print media. Learners will list at
least three (3) important information or message that
these print media as. Answers will be written on the
provided activity sheet. Groups will chooses one
reporter to present their work.
