Onceagainit'sthattimeofyearwhenwegettobeSantatoalittleWilsonSchoolAngel.Iwillbe bringingthechildren'spictureswithmeTuesdays,foryoutochooseyourAngel.Thankyoutoallour membershowhavealreadychosentheirangel.Westillhaveseveralangelswaitingforsponsors.Please comebythebusinessareatabletochooseyourangel. IfyouwouldliketoshareyourAngelwithanothermemberthatwouldbegreat.Thisyear,aswedidlast year,wehaveputaspendinglimitof$75.00perchild.PLEASErememberthatyoumustbuythem shoes,pantsandshirtsfirstandthenthetoy,thenanythinggoes.Againtherearenomorethan7 packagesperchild.Thisseemedtoworkoutverywelllastyearandthechildrenwerenotoverwhelmed.     TheWilsonDistrictislocatedat30thSt.andVanBurenindowntownPhoenix.Eachoftheclassesatthe schoolhasacorporatesponsorfortheannualChristmasparty,aneventwhichprovidesmostofthese childrenwiththeonlygiftstheyreceive.Forseveralyears,theScottsdaleChorushassponsoredthe KindergartenclassofMelindaHutchisonforProjectChristmas.Whydoourheartsgoouttothese children? 1.WilsonDistricthastheHIGHESTAtRiskpopulationoutofthe225schooldistrictsinArizona. 2.TheaverageincomeoftheWilsonfamiliesis$5,000PERYEAR!Yes,perYEAR!!!! 3.100%ofthechildrenreceivefreelunchandbreakfasteachday,andtheschoolstaysopenduringpart oftheholidaysandsummerbreaktobesurethatthestudentshavefoodtoeat. 4.97%ofthepopulationisHispanic;25%ofthepopulationisHomeless[theschoolservesthechildren fromthreesheltersinthearea].

    5.70%oftheparentsarenonEnglishspeakers,althoughthatnumberisdecreasingwiththeEnglish classesofferedoncampus. 6.Themobilityrateisoneofthehighestinthestateabout70%. 7.Thechildrenareasthrilledtoreceiveapairofsocksornewunderwearastheyaretoreceive expensivetoys.ThegenerosityofourchorustothesekidsandtheirfamiliesisaLEGENDinthebarrio! Here'showyoucanbeapartofthisproject: 1.Donatecashtobeusedforthepartyrefreshmentsorallclassgifts[i.e.newuniformshirtforeach student]. 2.BuyasweatshirtortwoandbringthemtorehearsalYouthsizes56,781012or1416. 3.Chooseapictureandpairupwithariserbuddyto"crazyspoil"thischild! 4.PlantoattendthepartyonThursdayDecember22ndatabout9:30.Wehavealreadybeenaskedto sing,butweneed4partsrepresentedwithourChampionshipchorus! 5.Needsomeideas?CheckwithMyrna,shewillbeinclosecontactwithMelindasothatwecanbest meettheneedsofthesedarlingkiddos. 6.Someofyouhavepurchasedtoiletriessoap,toothbrushes,toothpaste,shampoo,lotion,etc.inthe past.Manystudentshavebeenthrilledtotakethatgifthomeasapresentformomordad. 7.OthershavepurchasedthefleecethrowsatdiscountpricesfromBigLots,etc.Thisisanothervery welcomegift,sincemanyfamiliesliveinhomeswithnoairconditioningorheat. Guessthat'sit.Therearemanystoriesthatwillwarmyourheart,ifyou'reinterestedspeakwithMyrna, LaurenAltiereandmanyothermemberswhohavebeenatthepartiesoverthepastseveralyears.
