Ministry history
South West State of Somalia (SWS) was formed late of 2014 in Baidoa district of southwest interim capital city,
the Administration context consists of the following regions: Bay, Bakool and Lower Shabelle under these
regions are 18 districts that hosts around 4.3 million population-based article 17 & 13 ACT of the southwest
constitution. The first minister of healthwas nominated on 20th January -2015 with some key cabinets of South
West State which the main office for the Ministry is located in Baidoa. Ministry of health organogram indicates
that has been formulated for 6 operational departments and 28 sections leaded by the Director general,
Ministry of health in partnership with International and UN organization is now management more than 4,234
Health staff across the state to strength the health system in the Ministry and across the entire health
performance in the state

Our mission is to promote good health and reduce illness, ensure equitable access to good and affordable
healthcare and pursue medical excellence including nutrition services with decentralized service delivery.

Project briefing
Ministry of Health Southwest Sate is implementing Damal Caafimaad project in the 10 district of Bay and
Bakool to expand the coverage of essential health and nutrition services and to improve the provision of
quality Health care Services for the population in Southwest state of Somalia, targeting vulnerable children,
women, and other vulnerable groups including elderly people,

Summary of Position
The skilled X-ray technician is responsible for taking quality x-rays of patients’ bones, soft tissues, or organs as instructed by
patients' physicians. The X-ray technician's responsibilities include monitoring radiology supplies, attending mandatory staff
meetings and training sessions, and ensuring that the x-ray machines are set at the correct radiation levels and also ensure that
all x-ray rooms are clean and tidy at all times and maintain accurate records,

Engagement
an X-ray technician will engage in to the patients, He/She will take x-ray from patients under physicians’ orders and
compassionate toward patients and able to lift or move patients with mobility issues. Ultimately, an X-ray technician should be
able to work in a fast-paced environment as well as demonstrate excellent communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills

Essential Job Functions


• Verifying patients' identity and reviewing physicians’ orders before beginning x-ray procedures.
• Using x-ray equipment to take radiographic images of patients' bones, tissues, and organs as per physicians’ written orders.
• Explaining x-ray procedures to patients and answering their questions.
• Positioning patients accordingly, which may include lifting and moving patients with limited mobility.
• Limiting patients' exposure to radiation by placing lead shields on patients where needed.
• Ensuring that the x-rays taken are of sound quality to prevent repeat procedures.
• Working closely with the resident Radiologist to determine whether further tests are required.
• Ensuring that the x-ray equipment is regularly serviced and in good working order.
• Promptly notifying management of damaged or malfunctioning x-ray equipment.
• Maintaining an accurate record of completed x-ray procedures

Required Qualifications and Professional Experience:

• Bachelor's or associate's degree in radiology, or a related field.


• Proven experience working as an X-ray technician for minimum 2 years.

Required Skills, Competencies & Attributes:

• Comprehensive knowledge of X-ray machine and procedures


• Proficiency in X-ray skills, Confidentiality of all the exams
• Contributes to client satisfaction and patient comfort
• Ability to move or lift patients.
• Ability to stand for extended periods.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills.
• A patient and compassionate disposition.
• Speaks Somali Language well specially local language(Maaymaay)
