Rules in
making a PPT
Limit each slide to one
idea

should be short and to the point,

include only key words.
Follow the 7x7 rule

for each slide in your presentation,

you should use no more than: 7 lines
(or bullets) per slide.
Layout should be
consistent

font size, style, color, and margins

should have the same format all
throughout the presentation.
Readable font style

do not use fancy font styles, always

be formal looking. Combining small
font sizes with bold or italics is not
recommended.
Font size should be
24point and above

the larger, the better. Remember,

your slides must be readable, even
at the back of the room.
Font and background
color contrast

Dark backgrounds should have light

text and bright accent colors. Light
backgrounds should have dark text
and bold accent colors.
Do not use all capital
letters

Capital letters makes the text hard

to read. Do not use all capital letters
for the text except for headings or
acronyms.
Do not Italicize all text

Italics are only used for quotes,

highlight thoughts or ideas, or book,
journal or magazine titles.
Use a Template

use a set font and color scheme.

Limit animation

too much animation can be

distracting.
