REVISION WORKSHEET – MENSURATION

SUBJECT: MATHEMATICS
GRADE: VIII

1. The area of a rhombus whose diagonals are of lengths 10 cm and 8.2 cm is:
(a) 41 cm2 (b) 82 cm2 (c) 410 cm2
(d) 820 cm2
2. The volume of a room is 19500 m³. The area of the floor is 260 m². The
height of the room is
(a) 75m (b) 25 m (c) 30 m
(d) 85 m.
3. Gina has a rectangular sheet of paper
20 cm long and 15 cm wide. She tolls it
along the length such that the two edges of
the paper do not overlap and form an open
cylinder of height 15 cm as given.
What is the outer surface area of the cylinder?

(a)20 x 15 sq cm (b) 20 x 15 x π sq cm

(c) 2 x 20 x 15 x π sq c (d) we can not say without knowing the radius.

4. Assertion(A): The floor of a room is a square of side 6 m. It’s height is 4 m.
The volume of the room is 144 m3.
Reason(R): Volume is calculated by multiplying the length x breadth x height
a) Both A and R are true and R is the correct explanation of A
b) Both A and R are true but R is not the correct explanation of A
c) A is true but R is false.
d) A is false but R is true.

5. Find the surface area and volume of a cube of each side 23 cm.
6. Find the area of a trapezium whose parallel sides are 24 cm and 20 cm and
the distance between them is 15 cm.
7.The area of a trapezium is 156 sq. cm. If one of the parallel sides is 9 cm and
the distance between them is 12 cm, find the length of the other parallel side.

8.Find the curved surface area of the cylinder with a diameter of 6cm and a
height of 4cm?
9. The area of a rhombus is 240 cm2 and one of the diagonals is 16 cm. Find
another diagonal.
10. The circumference of the base of a cylindrical vessel is 176 cm and its
height is 30 cm. How many litres of water can it hold?

11.The radii of two cylinders are in the ratio of 2:3 and their heights are in the
ratio of 5:3. Find the ratio of their volumes.
12.The ratio of the volumes of two right circular cylinders are 25 𝜋: 49𝜋 . The
height of both the cylinders are the same. Find the ratio of their volumes.
13. A milk tank is in the form of a cylinder whose radius is 1.5 m and length is
7m. How many litres of milk can it hold?
14.A roller takes 750 complete revolutions to move once over a level of road.
Find the area of road if the diameter of the roller is 84 cm and length is 1 m.

15. A toy company sells two different toy chests. The toy chests have different
dimensions, but the same volume.

a) What is the width w of Toy Chest 2?

b) If the toy chest have to be painted on all sides

except the base, compare the area to be painted for
both the chests. Which chest will require lesser paint? Justify.
