Assesment of The Medicine Plants Used by Traditional Healers
CHAPTER -I
A-Content and Rationale
Plants have been used for medicinal purposes by humans for thousands of years. The use of
medicinal plants by the Filipinos started way back before the Spanish colonization and could be
influenced by Chinese traders (Eusebio and Umali2004). Traditional medicine has been
acknowledged to have an important role in the healthcare delivery system and one of the most
common forms of practice is the use of medicinal plants (World Health Organization, WHO
2015).These plants have natural compounds that can be turned into medicines to treat different
kinds of illnesses. They are like nature's own medicine cabinet, full of helpful remedies for all
sorts of common problems.
.
Medicine plants are amazing and helpful plants that have special powers to heal and make us
feel better. This research helps us to fully understand medicine plants as a tool to cure our
illnesses. It can help us to develop a deeper understanding and appreciation for traditional
healing systems. We also gain a knowledge of some of their herbal medicine, a new discovery of
possibilities for managing health conditions or exploring natural remedies. Additionally, we can
raise awareness about the importance of conservation and sustainable practices to ensure the
availability of these plants for future generations.
