ELECTRONIC CLIMATE SYSTEM E.C.S.

The E.C.S. system (Electronic Climate System) allows to increase both the driving safety and comfort, and
puts the operator in a condition to ensure a constant thermal balance without efforts independently from the
continuously changing climatic conditions.

To reach this result all over the year, simply press the AUTO button and set the desired comfort level; we
recommend 22 – 23 °C.
With this simple setting you can be sure to have installed on your vehicle a system that, due to the huge
processing power of its microprocessor, is always watchful and ready to constantly suit the variable climatic
conditions of a working day.

In all operation conditions, the E.C.S. system controls the

temperature and the quantity of the air flowing in the cab,
to avoid that the driver, like with conventional air
conditioners, is compelled every now and then to operate
the manual controls in the aim to reach the desired
comfort level, often without result.
This control is ensured in a temperature range of the
external air between -20 and +50 °C.

NOTE: The climate system may operate only with the

engine running.

The activation of the compressor is signalled
by the lighting on of the relevant LED.
If the compressor is switched off (LED not lighting),
the cooling function is deactivated: in this case, if the
driver wants a lower internal temperature, than the
external temperature, the LED will flash for some
seconds to call the driver's attention and inform him
that the system cannot cool down the air.
With external temperatures under 3°C, the
compressor is deactivated.
NOTE: The compressor may operate only with
running engine.

OPERATION OF THE DIGITAL DISPLAY

The digital display is a new man-machine interface founded on the
concept of interaction with the system: Digital display
This compact, effective, immediately readable system collects via
the CAN-Bus all information in real time in respect to the priorities
pre-set by the main controller, thus considerably supporting the
ergonomics of the driving place.
In fact, all traditional instruments have been integrated in this new,
high contrast display.

Turning the ignition key to "ON" (or putting the vehicle in motion),
switches on the display; the systems performs internal checks for
some seconds (boot), finally the main menu is displayed.
The main menu contains:
- Message field with real-time actualised load data;
- Bar of the load limiter;
- All for a better understanding necessary digital instruments
(default arrangement: tachometer, actual operation hour counter, NOTE: At the switching off of the
voltmeter, engine oil manometer, coolant thermometer, vehicle, main switch to "OFF", the
transmission oil thermometer) ; display remains on for some
minutes (~1), then goes off.
- Pilot and warning lights accordingly to ISO standard;
- System message field;
- Transmission message field (gearbox);
- Twist locks traffic light (lift truck with spreader).
The access to the various menus is performed with the available function keys.

Use of the menus

In the first menu the operator can overview the normal function of the vehicle, paying attention to the
displayed information and controlling the instruments (especially if the gauge enters the red zone), the load
limiter bar and the system message field.

In the following we give a short description of the functions:

1. Total hour counter

This counter does not show the hour fractions, that are instead considered by the calculation of the
system clock, and works only with running engine. The precision of this instruments is important, as it
forms the calculation base of all maintenance intervals and of the alarm duration.

NOTE: The installer sets up the system clock programming the relevant parameters.

2. Operator's hour counter

If foreseen during the installation, this counter shows the working hours of the operator in the system
(hours, minutes, seconds). If the operator does not digit a valid password, the vehicle operates only with
activated load limiter (lifting and forward mast tilting deactivated).

7. Alarm symbols display
The alarm symbols are displayed in the last two fields of the pilot and warning lights zone. If the field is
already occupied by a pilot or warning light, the alarm overwrites it temporarily.
When the event occurs, the relevant alarm is displayed and in the message field "4" appears the alarm
code and the message text in the selected language.
If foreseen by the installer, the error may switch-off the engine (N.B.: In case of fully electronic controlled
engines, this function may be taken over by the engine control unit).
The alarm symbol remains displayed at the switching-off of the engine, while the text in the message field
is reset.
In any case, if the error has not been eliminated, it will be signalled again at the next start of the vehicle.
NOTE: In case of these faults, park the vehicle and call qualified staff for inspection, restoring
and repair.
The presence of a fault condition is written in the "black box" of the system (events file) that may contain
max 2000 records.

Maintenance menu
The system can also count the periodic maintenance intervals; to this purpose, there are 4 separate clocks
(set by the installer at 100, 500, 1000, 2000 hours or with customised intervals). At expiration, the
maintenance step is signalled on the same way, as an alarm, by the lighting on of the symbol "MAN" in
position "7" and by a message in field "4" depending on the relevant interval.

The presence of the message is recorded in the event memory (black box) of the system, so that it may be
checked by the system supervisors.
The calculation becomes negative, evidencing the delay of the maintenance step.

Using a password, the maintenance operator can access the calculation menu with
the "A" button, after input of an access word [known by the authorised and qualified
personnel (request it directly to the C.V.S. Service department)]. The operator may
increase or decrease the values with the function keys "F" and "G", move between the
figures with the "H" and "I" buttons and finally confirm with the "L" button.

The system displays the menu page with the remaining calculations related to the various intervals and the
operator may decide, in conformity with the performed steps, which ones are to be restarted:
he can select them with the "F" and "G" buttons, then, pushing the button "L", the data are reset and the new
calculation is done.

To return to the initial menu, press again the access button "A".

NOTE: All a.m. steps must be performed only by qualified and trained personnel
that must perfectly know the system and work with caution and safely.
