“F” RECURRENT PBS CYCLE

This recurrent cycle will apply from 1st January 2024 to 30th June 2024.

Disclaimer: The contents of this documents are subject to change, please check 6EBreez/6EDocs
for the latest version of this document. This document will also be available on MS Teams, under
the files section of the group “IndiGo Pilots-A320”. In case you are not a part of this group, please
reach out to your Fleet Supervisor.

The aim of this cycle is to:

• Develop pilot competencies
• Enhance competencies
• Practice practical application of knowledge.

Day 1 (Recurrent Training) will consist of:

• Line Oriented Flight Training (LOFT)

LOFT is a realistic, real-time, uninterrupted, line-oriented training environment. It provides the opportunity for
trainees to experience challenging operational situations, and for the application of non-technical (CRM) skills.
LOFT is a useful training method because it gives crew members the opportunity to practice line operations in
a realistic environment. Emphasis is needed on “ACTIVE MONITORING”. It is expected that the crew will
participate actively in a facilitative de-briefing.

• Scenario Based Training phase (SBT)

The purpose of the scenario-based training phase is to develop, retain and practice the competencies for
effective management of threats and errors to enhance the crew's ability to cope with both predictable and
unforeseen situations. The instructor should intervene or interrupt where necessary to enable the development
of the crew’s competence or enhance the learning experience. Training should consist of line-oriented flight
scenarios during which one or more threats may be introduced.
As per studies detailed in ICAO Doc 9995, data indicated substantial difficulties encountered by crews when
faced with a threat or error that was a surprise or an unexpected event. The element of surprise should be
distinguished from what is sometimes referred to as the “startle factor”, the latter being a physiological reaction.

• Manoeuvres based training phase (MBT/MT)

The purpose of the manoeuvre training phase is to practice and develop the handling skills necessary to fly
critical flight manoeuvres. This is not real-time training; however, it allows crews the time to practice and
improve performance in largely psychomotor skill-based exercises. It is important to maintain focus on skill, and
not to turn this into a LOFT style training. Once the pilot has completed the critical part of the manoeuvres
successfully, the aim has been achieved. Repositioning of the flight simulation, to focus training on the
intended manoeuvres will be a commonly used FSTD feature for this phase. Every effort shall be made to
provide a relaxed environment free from the normal LOFT style considerations, where the crew can practice
skills with coaching where necessary.

• Special Purpose Operational Training phase

Training to address training needs such as RNP Training, Specific airfield/approach training requirement, Low
visibility training etc. are covered under this phase.

• Manual Handling
An extra of 30 minutes has been provided per trainee to practice manual handling skills, and any exercises that
require to be trained to proficiency.
