effectiveness of the design and the implementation of the F&G system.

SIL Determination (using LOPA): Layer of protection analysis (LOPA)

study is used to evaluate process safety risks and ensure proper
safeguards or Independent Protection Layers (IPLs) are in place to
reduce risk to a tolerable level. LOPA method is also used to determine
the SIL required by the Safety Instrumented Function (SIF) in order to
close the system design gap to achieve the tolerable risk level.

Safety Requirement Specification (SRS) generation: Define the

integrity and the functional requirements of each SIF as defined in
Clause 10 of IEC 61511.

expertise, we can make this Prior-Use justification process possible.
MOC Impact Analysis: MOC is an essential aspect of the process industry. Procedures for change
management should be made for all aspects of process industry projects but are critically important
for aspects related to the Safety Instrumented System (SIS). The SIS is an essential aspect of
ensuring the safe and reliable operation of a given process and must continue to meet all specified
safety requirements throughout the life of a facility. For that reason, MOC Impact Analysis ensures
that correct consideration and follow-up are given to modifications to ensure the SIS can continue to
maintain the facility’s safety.
Proof test optimization: Optimizing the intervals of Safety Instrumented System (SIS) proof tests
to save maintenance costs while maintaining the safety integrity of the system by reviewing the
previous design phase activities and focusing on the applicable methods to increase the proof
testing interval of the SIS and reducing the probability of human error (systematic failures) during
proof testing by reducing the amount of test required.
Post-delivery Functional Safety support: Our support does not end when the project is delivered.
Our functional safety experts are always available to share their expertise and knowledge whenever
you come across any query or challenge in the area of Functional Safety.

Functional Safety Management
Functional Safety Management planning: ensures that each SIF is designed, installed, and operated correctly
to obtain the appropriate level of risk reduction
Functional Safety Guidelines: IEC 61508 and IEC 61511 are performance-oriented standards; they state what is
required but not specifically how. The Standards are not a cookbook of pre-planned solutions; Therefore, our team
provides corporate-specific Guidelines and Procedures on the implementation of the standards for any corporate
before starting any Functional Safety project. These Functional Safety Guidelines shall cover the whole IEC 61511
safety lifecycle. The Guidelines provide a step by step guidance on doing each activity of the safety lifecycle to
ensure that whenever a Functional Safety activity is needed, it will be performed consistently and performed by
following the corporate Functional Safety procedures.
Functional Safety Assessment (stage 1 to 5) & Auditing: is the process of performing independent reviews
and audits at five stages of the IEC 61511 Safety Lifecycle to ensure that all the activities and documentation for
the Safety Lifecycle phase have been completed according to the requirements of IEC 61508 and IEC 61511 to
help in reducing the effect of systematic failures.
Functional Safety Database using PHA-Pro software: ensures proper management of the lifecycle activities.
The database provides templates for executing lifecycle activities, ensuring consistency in the standard
implementation, easy traceability, and efficient management of change. This would enable dramatic improvements
in company-wide visibility of risks and allow companies to avoid repeat issues by leveraging historical knowledge.
Combines with EcoStruxure Process Safety Advisor provides real-time operational risk analysis and visualization
across your entire enterprise, providing situational risk awareness for faster, better decisions to operate your
assets more safely and profitably.

Functional Safety Training
