Approaches to Niagara Falls

Travelling by car
Niagara Falls has many different approaches
that are usually east and west oriented. If you
would like to take a more relaxing, scenic
route, just take the Niagara Parkway. This
route follows the Canadian side of the Niagara
River from Lake Ontario to Lake Erie,
traversing the heart of the city en route.

The Queen Elizabeth Way (QEW) via Hwy 420

is the primary route to get to your destination
in the Falls. This highway starts off in Toronto,
outlines Lake Ontario and passes through
Niagara Falls, interconnecting with major
streets, and finishing at the Peace Bridge.

Visitors coming from Southwestern Ontario,

may travel on two other roads which provide
very good access as well: Hwy 20, which goes
directly into Niagara Falls; and Hwy 3, which
will lead you to several smaller roads that will
take you directly to the city.

On the Canadian Side, there are toll bridges

that will greet visitors travelling from or
through New York (often on the I-90 Interstate
Highway) to get to the Canadian Side of the
Falls:

the Rainbow bridge is located in the

heart of the sightseeing area;
the Whirlpool Bridge is slightly north of
downtown; and
the Peace Bridge which links Buffalo, NY,
and Fort Erie, Ontario, is positioned just
south of Niagara Falls.

Travelling by plane
There are four commercial airports that serve
the Niagara Falls area.

Buffalo International Airport at Genesee

and Dick Streets in New York is the
closest to the city. There are also Shuttle
Buses, which are operated by the ITA,
available from this airport to Niagara
Falls, NY, and to Niagara Falls, Ontario.
The Niagara District Airport, also
handling commercial flights, is located at
Niagara Stone Road in Niagara-on-the-
Lake.
Only 45 minutes away, is the Hamilton
Airport which does benefit the Greater
Municipality of Hamilton and
surrounding towns.
Approximately 2 hours from Niagara Falls
is where the main Airport of Ontario is
located, Toronto's Lester B. Pearson
International Airport.

Travelling by train
VIA RAIL offers daily passenger service
between Niagara Falls and Toronto. The VIA
RAIL train station is located within two blocks

returning to Toronto via Niagara Falls, known
