Revolutionize your practice with ZERONA

The first FDA approved, non-invasive body contouring procedure proven both safe and effective at removing unwanted fat and inches. ZERONA is the safest and most researched low-level laser in the world, allowing physicians to offer a painless alternative to liposuction. More specifically, ZERONA has been approved by the FDA for the elimination of fat and reduction of waist, hips and thighs. In a double blind, randomized, placebo controlled study, patients were treated 6 times over a 2 week period with Zerona - a patented low-level laser system - and lost on average 3.5 inches in combined circumferential measurements of their waist hips and bilateral thighs.

The Patented Technology Behind ZERONA

The technology behind ZERONA is based on low level laser therapy, or LLLT for short. LLLT affects the signaling of cells, or to put it simply, accelerates naturally occurring processes. It has been safely used for over 40 years in reducing pain and inflammation, promoting cellular activity and rate of replication and increasing blood flow. Today, it has been widely adopted by athletes to reduce pain and inflammation and to hasten recovery after strenuous efforts. In the medical community it has also gained acceptance as the treatment of choice when dealing with recalcitrant wounds like eschars or ulcers. We are just at the tipping point of a broader understanding and acceptance of LLLT, as a viable treatment alternative for many health and medical issues.

How Does ZERONA Work?

Research began accidentally in 1998 with Dr. Neira, a Columbian Plastic Surgeon who was using LLLT as an adjunct to surgery in reducing pain and inflammation. When he used LLLT on his liposuction patients, he was surprised to learn that fat extraction was much easier than it should have been, and that the aspirate appeared much smoother than expected. After closer examination, he was able to determine that stimulation of the adipocyte cell by the low-level laser helped emulsify that fat within the cell and created a small temporary opening, allowing for the fatty contents to seep out from the fat cell. Once liberated, triglycerides are broken down through the lymphatic system before entering the bloodstream where they can either be used to fuel normal metabolic needs or processed by the liver and

excreted. This process left a smaller, collapsed treated cells, resulting in circumferential loss of the treated areas. It was this finding back in 1998, that led to numerous clinical trials and studies that demonstrated the safety and effectiveness of ZERONA. In fact, ZERONA is the only body contouring device awarded FDA market clearance based on Level 1 research. Level 1 research is the most stringent of the FDAs efficacy testing standards involving double-blind, randomized, multi-site and placebo controlled studies, similar to those conducted by pharmaceutical companies.

What Can Patients Expect?

Clinical research submitted to the FDA demonstrated that with ZERONA alone, patients, on average, lost 3.5 inches in circumference off hips, waist and thighs. Now with over 20,000 patients treated across the United States and Canada, the average inch reduction increased to 4.2 off these same measurement areas by asking patients to adhere to a comprehensive protocol, which emphasizes hydration and lymphatic system mobilization. Both of which aid in the bodys ability to rid itself of the excess fat.

Is ZERONA Safe?
A study was performed using ZERONA to check cholesterol and triglyceride levels. None of the patients demonstrated a statistically significant elevation in their triglycerides and cholesterol levels. In fact a statistically significant reduction in both low density lipids (LDL) and cholesterol levels was observed. So far, over 20,000 patients have been treated with ZERONA with no reported side effects or complications.

What Type of Patients Can Be Treated?

Essentially all parts of the body where subcutaneous deposits of fat can be found may be treated with ZERONA, especially those resistant to diet and exercise. Most patients start with treating their waist, hips and thighs as these can be treated simultaneously with the 5 lasers of ZERONA. All patients can benefit from Zerona, from the very trim all the way to the clinically obese. However, the number of treatments and clinical protocols will vary depending on the patient. For instance, clinically obese patients will often combine Zerona with a program of weight loss and exercise. The significant improvement in body shape over a short period of time is used to motivate patients to comply with their diet and exercise program.
