VI. Installation Procedure

Installation procedure for

[FD-501 + MFP 105ppm series]
1. Turn the machine’s Sub and Main switches OFF,
and unplug the power cord.
2. Install the Installation plate/1 (2 places), the
Installation plate/2, and the Installation plate/3 on
the left side of the machine as below. (TP screw
M4x6: 8 pcs.)
Note:
For the Installation plate/2 and the Installation
plate/3, use the screw holes without the engraved 15BMIXE034SA

marking “FS503.”
5. Turn OFF DIP SW2.
Note:
• This procedure is required because by
default it is set for a COLOR MFP 65ppm
series.(Factory default of SW2: ON)
• Do not change other switches.

8. Connect the jumper connector to the CN-19.

Unless the jumper connector is connected, the
ISW cannot be performed.

9. Installing trays.
(1) Install the main tray detection short connector.
• Remove the short connector from the clamp.
• Connect the short connector to the main tray Sub tray

Note:

9. Install the each part.
(1) Install the back cover of the FD-501.(4 screws)
(2) Install the attachment guide plate assembly to
the exit portion of the FD-501. (TP screw
M3x6: 2 pcs.)
(2) Remove the wire bundle protector attached to
the connector outlet on the right side of the FD-
501, install it on the connector outlet on the
back, and pull the connectors through it.

11. Install the FD-501 to the machine.

13. Perform a software update (ISW).

For ISW procedures, see the service manual.
Note:
15BMIXE018SA The software is designed for the COLOR MFP
65ppm series, so be sure to run it.

10. Place the conveyance unit on the rail of machine
installation plate/R and machine installation
plate/L, and slide it all the way in until it stops at
the back.

11. Remove the lock shaft of the conveyance unit (1

black screw).
Note:
Be sure to store the lock shaft for the use when
removing the conveyance unit.
8. Install the reinforcing plate (included in the RU
package) on the back of machine installation plate/

12. Pull out the conveyance unit, secure it with

13. Loosen two screws, and remove the connector
cover on the back side of the RU conveyance
segment.
16. Install the connector cover on the RU convey-
ance segment.
Note:
Fit the wire bundle in the RU machine so that it will
not get hooked when the conveyance segment is
pulled out.

14. Connect two connector plugs of the power sup-

ply unit to the connector plugs of the convey-
ance segment, and secure the wire bundle with 15AQIXE058SA

 (2) Align the bottom holes of the front cover with
the pins of the power supply unit, and use the
temporarily placed screws to secure it.

19. Install trays.
(1) Install the main tray on the main tray up-down
portion on the FD-501 (Truss screw M4x6: 2
pcs.)
Note:
• Be sure to prepare the main tray separately.
• When installing the main tray, hook the main
tray guide holes to the four auxiliary metal
hooks and secure the tray.

If the front cover does not close because it touches
the machine or optional unit, adjust the horizontal
position or angle of the front cover. If the actuator
does not turn the interlock switch ON, adjust the
position of the actuator adjustment plate as well.

VII.Serial Number Registration
Register the serial number of the FD-501 that has
been installed to the main body.
The location of the serial number is shown in the fig-
ure below.
[For the MFP 105ppm series]
Step
1. Plug the power cord into the outlet and turn
ON the Main power switch.
2. Enter Service mode.
Note:
Refer to procedures in the Service Manual
to enter into the Service Mode.
3. Touch “System Setting” to display sub menus.
4. Touch “M/C Serial Number Setting” from the
system setting sub menus.
5. Touch “Finisher 1” to display the Serial num-
ber entry screen.
6. Enter the serial number of the FD-501 and
touch the “OK” key. (Use the “Shift” key to
switch between upper case letters and lower
case letters.)
7. Touch “OK” on the serial number list screen.
[For the COLOR MFP 65ppm series]
Step
1. Plug the power cord into the outlet and turn
ON the Main power switch.
2. Enter Service mode.
Note:
Refer to procedures in the Service Manual
to enter into the Service Mode.

Touch “System Setting”.
4. [System Setting Menu screen]
Touch “M/C Series Number Setting”.
5. Touch “Finisher 1” to display the Serial num-
ber entry screen.

6. Enter the serial number of the FD-501 and
touch the “OK” key. (Use the “Shift” key to
switch between upper case letters and lower
case letters.)
7. Touch “Return” on the serial number list
screen.
VIII. Importing Adjustment Data
Import the factory adjustment data of the FD-501 to
the machine memory.
If a FD-501 and other optional units are connected,
they can recover the standard data at the same
time.
Step
1. On the Service mode menu screen, touch
“Finisher Adjustment”.
2. [Finisher Adjustment Menu screen]
Touch “Recall Standard Data”.
3. Touch “Factory Initial Data” on the recall
standard data screen.
IX. Confirmation of Paper Output
Output paper in all folding modes and punch mode
to check paper folding and punch accuracy. If the
results are not within the standard values, adjust the
settings.
See the Field Service section of the Service Manual
for adjustment method.
X. Adjustment Data Backup
If the adjustment data of the FD-501 is changed,
back up the main body’s FD-501 data to the FD-501
memory board.
If a FD-501 and other optional units are connected,
the data will be backed up at the same time.
Step
1. On the Service mode menu screen, touch the
“Machine Condition (MFP 105ppm series)” or
“State Confirmation (COLOR MFP 65ppm
series)”.
2. Touch the “I/O Check (MFP 105ppm series)”
or “I/O Check Mode (COLOR MFP 65ppm
series)”.
3. Enter “9” and “0” using the quantity setting
buttons. Make sure that <090-00> appears
on the message display.
4. Press the [Start] key.
Backup procedure will start.
