hyperactivity disorder
(ADHD) is a type of
neurological disorder
called a
neurodevelopmental
disorder.

common
neurodevelopmental
disorders of childhood. It is
usually first diagnosed in
childhood and often lasts
into adulthood

ADHD can lead to a wide
range of symptoms related
to inattention, hyperactivity,
and impulsivity. In
adulthood, untreated ADHD
can cause difficulties with
day-to-day functioning at
home and at work

disorders in children and teens, but plenty
of adults have it too. It’s estimated that
adult ADHD affects more than 8 million
adults. Many of them don’t even know it.

diagnosis is 7. And every adult who has ADHD
also had symptoms during childhood. Experts
used to think that children “grew out” of
ADHD. But studies show that more than 60%
of children with ADHD still have it as adults.
