Presenting examples/instances of the new lesson

SIMILAR FRACTION fractions with same denominators

DISSIMILAR FRACTION fractions with unlike denominators

Discussing new concepts

”Let’s come now to our new lesson for this
morning.”

“ First, let’s define dissimilar fractions, dissimilar

fractions are fractions with different
denominators.

Formula:

“First,Let’s have an example for Adding dissimilar

fractions”

“By adding dissimilar fractions,we can use

different method”

1st method

1st Method (Getting LCM)

1. Change dissimilar fractions to similar

fractions. by getting the LCD.
2. Divide the denominator to the
denominator and multiply to numerator.
3. Lowest term.

3 1
4 + 3

”by getting the LCD of the two

denominator,let’s have “

3 1
4 + 3

3: 3,6,9,12,15…

4: 4,8,12,16…

“so what is our denominator ?” “Ma’am our denominator now is 12”

“Yes Ana?”

“Very good ana,our denominator is 12,since it is

the same lowest number that we need to use in
our denominator” “Yes Ma’am”

“Is itclear class?”

“okay let’s try this and find the lcd”

3 1
3 + 4

“divide the denominator and multiply it to

numerator”

Finding practical applications of concepts and

skills in daily living
“ As I discuss Adding and Subtracting dissimilar
fractions, two operations are used or involved
we’re in we all know that it is generally use in
marketing,computing,cashiers,food
servers, operators.Anything that we need to add
or subtract in real life situation. Fractions are also
help us and can use in our daily living,by
calculating discounted price on sale, analyzing the
performance,like eating a pizza.”
Concluding activities
Making generalizations and abstractions
“How we calculate the dissimilar fractions?”

“Using butterfly method”

1. Cross-multiply the two fractions.

2. Multiply the two denominators
And? “Simplify,If needed”
3. Simplify(if needed).

“2nd method”

“Change into similar denominators or

fractions, getting the LCM and we need to divide “getting the LCM”
the denominator and multiply it to numerator.”
