University, namely ‘The University of Lahore” (UOL) that presently
is the largest private sector University in Pakistan. The University was
established as a nascent institution in the year 1999. Our vision was to
develop a world class prestigious educational institution having state-
of-the art facilities/infrastructure and capable of offering innovative
and quality education in a conducive and highly developed learning
environment.
The University was granted a ‘Degree Awarding Institution (DAI)’
status by the Government of Punjab in 2002 through a Charter as “The
University of Lahore. It also obtained recognition by Higher Education
Commission (HEC) that placed us in the highest “W-4” category. The
University is ranked amongst the top 301-350 universities of the world by
Times Higher Education Emerging Economics University Ranking 2019.

Greetings and welcome to the University College of Medicine & Dentistry
at The University of Lahore. Our institute offers education in an ethical and
professional environment, ensuring that our students are given state of
the art experiences of knowledge, skill and humane attributes. Emphasis
is given to educate them according to our own social, cultural and religious

COMMERCIALIZATION AND ENTERPRISE

EXCELLENT FACILITIES
The University has invested extensively in new teaching facilities.
With the new facilities for Computer Sciences and the up-coming
engineering facilities at the Lahore campus, the University will be
providing the best teaching and learning environment in Pakistan.
The Teaching Hospital at the campus also adds value to the Medical
programs. The University has also invested in the School of Creative
Arts (SOCA), where students are now engaged in the diverse activities
of the Media Group housed within the facilities of the School,
thereby giving them the experience of newspaper, television and
film production skills. SOCA is the only facility in Pakistan with two
commercial studios, latest in cinematic and television equipment and a
sound studio delivering commercial film sound production.
We believe in teaching through practice and therefore the university
has already invested heavily in SOCA. Additionally there is a gaming
and animation house at the university delivering the needs of
commercial consumers across the world. The University intends to
further invest in a medical park and an IT innovation centre in order
to commercialize the technologies developed at the University and
create a learning environment for the students. The premises will

Dentistry, Allied Health Sciences, Pharmacy, Engineering and Technology,

The Campus at Raiwind Road is seated on 4 Acres & 7 Kannals and houses
the Engineering Technology, Sciences, Social Sciences and University
College of Dentistry. The facility features a comprehensive library, a

The Main Campus also features a lush green park with fountains and

The University of Lahore (UOL) has its own large fleet of buses,
mini buses and vans that provide pick and drop facility to its
various campuses and around the city. The University also
provides shuttle bus services to its staff & faculty members

UOL RELIEF TRUST
UOL Relief was established at the time when Pakistan was hit by one of
the most devastating earthquakes in history. The year was 2005, and
the country was preparing for the onset of winter when tragedy struck
one morning in October causing destruction and casualties in several
areas especially Northern Pakistan. Thousands of people were affected,
villages were wiped out and roads were damaged making it difficult to
rescue those under collapsed homes and buildings in far off valleys. It
was a time of national emergency and crisis. It was then that a group
of volunteers from University of Lahore under the guidance of Nasir
Mahmood were gathered to respond to the situation that was challenging
in itself. The team worked diligently rescuing people trapped under
concrete, arranging medicines and food, and offering first aid treatment
to the affected. Since the temperatures continued to drop it became
increasingly necessary to provide shelter to those who had lost their
homes. Hence temporary tent villages were erected to offer protection
against the weather and further calamities.
EMERGENCY RELIEF
In the times of crisis whether it is man-made or natural, most important
thing is to provide an emergency relief. This might be in shape of
emergency shelter, access, clothes or other basic necessities of life. And
for this purpose, UOL Relief initiated a club named as “Search and Rescue
Club” which is fully equipped with knowledge and expertise of disaster
management in the bad times. And also UOL Relief working over
a decade to assessing in a very methodical manner the needs
of the areas, organizing the efforts and then delivering the
services to the doorstep in a respectful manner as per the
norms of the local area.
MEDICAL CARE
UOL Relief taps in to the expertise of the University of
Lahore’s University College of Medicine & Dentistry
(UCMD) to deliver the proper Medical care to people
in dire needs. Since 2005 Earthquake UOL Relief
took care of over 5000 people, mostly children
with removal of the rods from their limbs being
put in to fix their fractures during the Earthquake.
After the Emergency Relief efforts ended in the
city, thousands of these young people were left
with prospect of great disability since the rods
started to impede in their growth.
FOOD SUPPORT PROGRAM
Mostly in Earthquakes and Floods affected people
automatically lose access to the very basic needs of life
i.e Food & shelter etc. Many of these affected populations
do not have any healthy nutrition access. There are number

of communities who never tasted rice in their life and only
rely on watered down goat milk with some hard corn
bread. UOL Relief Trust provide them healthy food with
monthly “Rashan Packs” especially in remote areas.
COMMUNITY UPLIFT
UOL Relief Trust launched special projects to uplift the
standard of life. Some of our projects include Water

Ilm-power Children Center, a project by The University of Lahore and PAHCHAAN (Protection And Help of Children Against Abuse
and Neglect) is a first of its kind innovative center, situated in Walton, Lahore for children from lower and lower-middle class
families. In this center, we are providing life skills based education coupled with activity based non formal education for children
who were out of School (for child laborers or children who can no longer be enrolled in a regular school) while actively engaging
their parents and community.
In the heart of the city, there are communities and children who struggle
with meeting ends meets. During their struggle for survival, education
falls in the bottom of the priority list.

Child Rights Department UOL, promotes child rights education by

INTRODUCTION
The department offers both curricular and extracurricular programs at
the University including, but not limited to; Academic Programs, Trainings

academic department in South Asia, the department aims to produce

Parental involvement in child’s life is a very significant variable in the
betterment of his life. Therefore, we engage parents through regular
meetings to make them aware of their child’s performance and the role
they can play in his/her life. We also provide counseling facilities to
improve their economic and living conditions, hence improving life of
their children.
HYGIENIC AND SECURED ENVIRONMENT
We provide our children with healthy and hygienic environment. There are
well cleaned and spacious rooms for our students. We do not compromise
on our students’ security and safety. CCTV cameras are placed for
monitoring and security guard facility is provided for the center.
Approximately 50,000 children in Pakistan are born with Congenital
Heart Defects (CHDs) annually, this is more commonly known as a ‘hole in
a heart’. Approximately 25% of these kids require immediate intervention,
whether it be surgical or catheterization.
UOL wants to establish a state-of-the-art medical facility that provides the
highest quality of care for children with heart disease, irrespective of their
financial means. To act as a model institute, for the training of healthcare
professionals, education of the public at large and promote research into
the causes and management of congenital heart disease.
University donated the land to Pakistan children heart foundation (PCHF)
for charity that will build this hospital and together we will treat children
with congenital heart disease for free.
RECREATIONAL FACILITIES
We focus not only on the educational component but also on the
recreational services for children. We provide recreation to students
through fun filled activities so that they can learn more through play.

DISQUALIFICATION
Any student who fails to clear any professional examination in
two consecutive chances shall not be eligible for continuation
of medical and dental studies of the MBBS and BDS in the
subsequent professional examinations. Provided a student who
has failed two consecutive chances to clear any professional
examination shall be afforded at the students’ request, a maximum
of two opportunities to repeat the relevant year that he has failed
to clear the professional examination off
STUDY GAP
Where any student has qualified a professional examination and
discontinues his/her studies and desires to re-join his/her studies
of the MBBS or BDS, within five years of his/her discontinuation,
he/she may.as one-time dispensation be allowed to continue his/
her studies from the stage he/she discontinued his/her studies.
In no case a student shall be allowed to continue study of MBBS
or BDS after a gap of more than five years. A student joining the
MBBS or BDS course after a study gap of three years shall re-take
his/her last professional examination subject to a degree being
completed within a ten year cumulative period.
DE-REGISTRATION / EXPULSION
• Submission of false information / evidence may call for
disciplinary measures including possible expulsion from the
University.
• Any students who fail to clear the University dues within the
time allowed by the authorities will be de-registered from
UCMD.
• General Disciplinary rules of The University of Lahore will
also apply to the students of UCMD and noncompliance of
such rules will lead to deregistration/ expulsion.

THE AWARD OF DEGREE
Each successful student at the completion of the program
shall receive a transcript duly signed by Chairman Board
of Governors, the Rector, the Registrar and the Controller
Examination. The degree of successful students, who will
not be present at the convocation, shall be issued degree on
payment of the prescribed fee. The degree may be issued to
a successful student before the convocation on payment of
prescribed fee.
CERTIFICATE OF MERIT
Certificates will be given to students who achieve excellence in
academics in annual examinations. These will include:

RULES FOR MIGRATION
Migration rules of PM&DC will be followed. Any student
having a valid, “No Objection Certificate” (NOC) for migration
from PM&DC will be considered depending on the availability
of seat in the desired session.

MME RULES AND REGULATIONS
• In addition to final examination, the department also encourages
students to take quizzes, projects, assignments, case studies, term
papers and presentations in accordance with course requirements.
• Final module exam conducted at the beginning of next session will
cover entire course content of previous module. It is mandatory
for the students to appear in all of the final module exam as this
would contribute to their overall result, if one fails or doesn’t
appear in the exam, he/she will have to give that module exam
when offered.
• Student’s results will be formulated by the teacher on the basis
of attendance, quizzes, project, assignments, case studies, term
papers and presentation, test and final examination and after
fulfilling any other evaluation criteria required by the Department.
• The Department, on completion of final examination shall send
under a covering letter signed by the Head of Department or by
an official nominated by him, student’s consolidated results in each
subject/ course on a Marks Sheet to CE Office within three weeks
of the final examination.
• If a student who wishes to have their module result reviewed are to
be dealt with by the HOD according to the policy of the University.
• On completion of program, student (s) will be required to defend
his/her thesis work.

GENERAL ADMISSION POLICY & ACADEMIC RULES
The University of Lahore admits students whose
educational background is sound and who can
achieve success in higher education. UOL will
invite all applicants qualified to achieve UOL’s
educational goals regardless of their gender, race,
creed or caste.
GENERAL ADMISSION RULES
a. Admissions will be opened twice a year
under the semester system, or as stated
otherwise for specific programs. Applications
received for admission in various programs
are reviewed by the concerned departments.
The applicants are required to appear in
admission test and interview. The final merit
is determined on the basis of past academic
performance, score obtained in the admission
test and performance in the interview
b. At the time of granting new admissions, the
UOL will invite applications through major
national dailies, social media platforms and
its website. The candidates must complete
all application requirements before being
considered for admission. Admission/
enrolment in any program will be limited
to the number of students who can be
accommodated.
c. Applicants, who have appeared in various
examination i.e. 12 years of education level
(intermediate (FA/F.Sc/ICS/I.Com/DAE/A-
Level), 14 years of education degree level
(BA/B.Sc), 16 years of education degree level
(MA/M.Sc), 18 years of education degree level
(MS/M.Phil) or pre-requisite level examination
prescribed for admission in a program and are
awaiting results, will be allowed to apply for
provisional admission, but they will be given
admission only after submission of the attested
copies of their certificates / degrees within the
prescribed time notified by the university. In
case of foreign qualification, applicant should
provide equivalent documents issued by the
IBCC or HEC. At the time of submission of
admission forms, applicants will be also be
required to submit an undertaking that they
understand the rules/policy of the admissions
and that if they fail to submit the required
documents within the prescribed time, they
will not be given admission.
d. Applicants for admission must meet the relevant
academic qualifications needed for the program
being applied for. These qualifications shall be
determined by the Academic Council and shall

be notified from time to time. Admissions shall
be granted purely on the basis of merit achieved
in the entrance test (or the tests conducted by
the testing services if so provisioned), academic
record and interview. The applicants shall be
required to:
i. Buy prospectus by cash from the
University Campus Admission Office or
send pay order/bank draft via courier in
the name of ‘The University of Lahore’;
and
ii. Apply online, before the notified closing
date; and
iii. Appear in the admission test and
interview on the date notified by
UOL, or produce results of the tests
conducted by the specified testing
service if so provisioned
e. Applications for admission shall be
entertained only on a prescribed form,
which is part of Online Admission Portal. The
Candidates applying for admission at the UOL
are required to submit a complete application
in all respects.
f. Admission shall be granted on the basis
of eligibility criteria mentioned for each
program and after passing the admission
test and interview arranged by the admission
committee of the department.
g. The test pattern is of the same standard
as of scholastic aptitude test (SAT) for
undergraduate studies and graduate record
examination (GRE/GMAT) for graduate
studies.
h. For eligibility criteria reference may be made
to each relevant program / degree.
i. Each successful applicant will be issued
“Admission Letter and Fee Voucher” by the
concerned department.
j. Students who have completed all the
formalities and deposited their fees and
other dues on the prescribed date are eligible
for registration. Each student, admitted on
merit, is expected to take full load of courses
prescribed for the semester.
1) PROVISIONAL ADMISSION
Applicants who make to the merit list but are
waiting for the result of the qualifying examination
may be granted provisional admission. If so
admitted, they shall submit their mark sheets,
showing all subjects of the qualifying examination
passed and the required aggregate marks achieved,
within 01 week after the result declaration. If the
student fails in any subject, does not achieve the
required aggregate marks, or does not submit
the marks sheet within 02 weeks of the semester
start shall be disqualified from the program and
cancellation of admission refund as per HEC Policy.
2) NEW ADMISSION TRANSFER
• Admission office will receive application
and will forward the same to the Head of
Department / Dean of the Faculty / Pro-
Rector for approval or forward it to the
Registrar and accounts office for further
processing and notification.
• If fee status is cleared and provisional
registration number already been issued,
then previous registration number will be
marked cancelled on student profile in the
system and new registration number will be
issued on the same applicant number after
selection.
• Applicable on all degrees programs including
MBBS/BDS and Engineering.
3) NEW ADMISSION CANCELLED /
FAILURE TO MEET ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA
• Student should provide complete documents
/ equivalence (IBCC/HEC) before Mid-Term
exams to secure admission. In case admission
is cancelled the student will not be allowed to
attend classes and will not be eligible for any
semester exam of the University.
• A student can not apply for fee transfer to
next session in case of ineligibility. However,
applying for refund in case of ineligibility
will be considered after declaration of result
within the time limit prescribed by HEC and
notified by the UOL.
• This policy is not applicable to MBBS/BDS
students.
4) DEFERMENT AND CANCELLATION OF
ADMISSIONS
Candidates selected for admission may defer their
admission for one semester for all degree programs
running under the semester system subject to
paying the admission fee and submitting all the
requisite documents. The candidates desiring
deferment shall apply with valid reason to the
Admission Office/Departmental Admin office
within one week of the commencement of the
semester. Fee deposited shall be readjusted for
the subsequent semesters as per the UOL fee
policy. This policy is not applicable to MBBS/BDS
students.
5) INELIGIBILITY FOR ADMISSION
A student will be ineligible for admission in the
following cases:
a. A student who does not meet the basic
eligibility for the applied program is ineligible
for admission.
b. The students who are expelled on disciplinary
grounds will not be permitted to rejoin the
University.
c. Students admitted provisionally but failed in
any subject will be ineligible for the admission

6) CANCELLATION OF ADMISSION DUE
TO ABSENCE, NON-PAYMENT OF DUES
/ FEE
Admission of a student will be cancelled in the
following cases:
1. If a student without any information, freezing
the semester, getting registered or payment
of fee for the new semester.
2. If newly admitted student (1st semester) does
not pay fee or any dues within the due date
notified by the University.
ACADEMIC CALENDAR
The academic calendar consists of two regular
semesters i.e. (Spring and Fall) and a short Summer
semester of 8-10 weeks is usually offered to cover
special courses. Each regular semester runs over 16
to 18 weeks, out of which 15 weeks are reserved
for regular classes, the other weeks are utilized
for course review/makeup classes, teacher course
evaluations/survey forms, exam preparation,
midterm/final exam conduct, exam results

ACADEMIC SESSION
(THE SEMESTER SYSTEM)
The academic programs are spread over two
semesters during each year. There are two regular
semesters in one academic years (Spring & Fall).

REGISTRATION & ENROLLMENT

will be required to produce their original
certificates, which will be returned to the
student after making entries in his/her file
and verification.
• The applicants will be allocated the University
Registration Number and will be issued the
University Registration Card by the Registrar
Office. This will allow the students to get
enrolled in different courses offered by the
concerned departments.
• In each semester, the students should enroll
in the courses as per “degree / program road
map” issued by the concerned department
and shall not enroll in advance courses unless
they have passed the prerequisite course.

GENERAL FEE POLICY
• Fees are charged to every student as per fees
structure offered for his/her degree at the
time of admission session until the completion

will have to pay re-registration fee as notified
by competent authority and other pending

• University reserves the right to change the
fees structure at any time.
PAYMENT OF FEE
New Admission:
New students shall deposit their fees on or before
the date notified by the UOL failure of which the
candidature for admission in the University shall
stand cancelled.
FEE REFUND

Fee Refund in case of new admission is dealt as per
applicable rules and regulations issued by HEC and
other regulatory bodies like PMDC, PEC etc
b) Regular Students:
No fees refund is made to regular students. Excess
paid fees if any, are adjusted against next semester/
years fees. If a student has completed their degree,
with excess amount paid, if any, will be refunded
after final clearance. Non- MBBS/BDS students
who wish to migrate or discontinue studies at the
UOL, excess paid fees, if any, will be refunded after
interim clearance according to the following rules.
1. Refunds will be made up to a maximum
period of one year after the date of leaving or
completion. UOL shall not entertain any claim
of refund after this period.
2. Refund eligibility will be determined as per the
UOL Fees refund policy and guidelines issued
by HEC, PMDC and other regulatory bodies

FEE TRANSFER NEW ADMISSION
If a candidate secures admission after paying fee
and fails to join the university, the paid fee can be
transferred to next admission by the approval of
competent authority as per UOL rules. This is not
applicable to degrees run under PEC and PMDC.
The transfer application date shall be the date on
which the University officially acknowledges/
receipts for the student’s application to transfer the
semester after approval by the competent authority
and notification.
GENERAL FEE CONCESSION AND
FINANCIAL AID RULES
Students who want to secure the facility of financial
assistance or fees concession shall obtain the
prescribed form from Office of Financial Assistance
and after completion, submit the same along with
their application within prescribe time notified by
the Finance & Accounts Section. The application will
be reviewed by the competent authority.

MISCELLANEOUS
• Not with standing anything to the contrary
contained in these rules, no student shall be
admitted to an examination after the expiry of
seven academic years.
• Provided that a student who obtained by a
student in each is admitted directly to a higher
class in the university, the period already spent
by him in studying the relevant discipline shall
be excluded from the aforesaid period.

destroyed after 120 days (one hundred and
twenty days) after declaration of the Results.
UNFAIR MEANS CASES

mid semester or Final term examinations to the
DeanlPrincipal who will forward these cases to
the Controller of Examination office and they will
present to the Unfair Means Committee within one
week for necessary action as under: Any student
detected in giving or receiving assistance, or found
guilty of copying from any paper, book or Rote, or
allowing any other candidate to copy his answer
book, or using, or attempting to use these or any
other unfair means, shall be expelled by the Head
Supervisor from the examination of that day and
subsequent day, if any, and his case shall be reported
to the Head of the Department for such further
action as he may deem necessary .Th. E*u-ination
