Climate points to remember

Dear Children read and remember these points when you calculate climate data for your exam.

I here by gave 3 sample question for you to work out the answer. Try answering these sample
questions.

1. Annual range of temperature: - Highest temperature value – lowest temperature value.


2. Annual rainfall of the following: sum of total rainfall
3. Total rainfall during monsoon season: total of rainfall only during June, July, Aug, Sep
months.
4. Total rainfall during retreating monsoon: total of rainfall only during Oct, Nov months.
5. Total rainfall during winter monsoon or north east monsoon: total of rainfall only during Dec,
Jan, and Feb months.
6. Hottest month: Highest temperature month.
7. Wettest month: Highest rainfall during the month
8. Driest month: Least rainfall month.
9. How to find whether the station is on the coast or interior? – find out the annual range i.e
highest – lowest temperature. If your answer is below or = 8° C then its coastal area. If your
answer is above 8° C more than 10 to 15°C then it is Interior area.
10. How to find whether the station is in the western or eastern coast? – check on the rainfall
months is high between June – September then the station will be in western coast. If the
rainfall month high during October – November then then station will be eastern coast.
11. How to find mean annual temperature? –
Annual mean temp = add up all month’s temperature and divide it by 12.

c. Why would it be correct to presume that the station is in the interior and not on the coast?
