equipment. Sixteen discrete LEDs can be configured to display multiple Alarm and Fault conditions, or system
status conditions remotely from CIE.

2.5. Detection Zone Output Card

The 6001-07 detection zone 8-relay output card provides relay output contacts that activate when the associated
control and indicating equipment detection zone displays an Alarm Condition. Each 6001 detection zone 8-relay
output card provides normally-open and normally-closed voltage-free output contacts.

2.6. Wi-Fi Interface

The 685 Wi-Fi interface provides a wireless transmission path between compatible control and indicating
equipment and a wireless local area network (WLAN) access point. The connection of CIE to the WLAN through
the Wi-Fi interface enables wireless connection of authorized PCs to CIE. A dedicated application running on
smart phones provides additional monitoring and control through the Internet. The 685 Wi-Fi interface provides
fire detection and alarm system designers with the a fully functional interface to configure and monitor the
operation of the fire detection and alarm system.

2.7. GSM Module

The 623 GSM module connects to compatible control and indicating equipment and sends fire detection and
alarm system status messages to pre-configured mobile telephone numbers. A standard SIM (not supplied) is
required to be installed in the 623, and an antenna is included for connection to the mobile telephone network.
The 623 is powered from a DC 24 V power source available from the CIE.

connected to the node. The wireless devices operate on one of up to 125 selectable radio frequencies. The
range of radio frequencies is available to militate against any channel interference that may be present at the
installation site.
The 6002 CIE supports up to 62 nodes (660-002) per loop.
6.5.2. Wireless Nodes
Where the node (660-002) hardware is integrated within another device (eg manual call point), two loop
addresses are used.
 Loop address (n) is the node hardware address, assigned by the installer.
 Loop address (n + 1) is used for the device second function. Loop address (n + 1) is assigned
automatically by the control and indicating equipment and must remain unassigned to other loop devices.
Each node has a separate unique Node ID to prevent devices configured on different loops with the same
address from interacting with more than one wireless node. Devices on different loops cannot be assigned the
same node address number.

12.6. Firmware Update

The firmware for both the CPU board and the HMI board can be updated to add new features and to resolve
known bugs. The firmware is updated by transferring the relevant file from a PC through the RS-232 PC
connection ports located on the CPU board and the HMI board.

CPU firmware update is not the same as the configuration data transfer from a PC to the
control and indicating equipment. The firmware transfer process described in this section
installs changes to the operating system. Configuration data is for connected devices
and control and indicating equipment operating parameters.

In preparation for file transfer, the file transfer program needs to be installed on the host PC. The FLASH
loader directly accesses the CPU FLASH memory. The FLASH loader program is available at
http://www.st.com/en/development-tools/flasher-stm32.html.
Download and FLASHER-STM32 software. Run the executable file and follow the prompts to install the
application (see Figure. 36).
