Dear Parents/Guardians of 4th and 5th Grade Students,

We are writing to address a concerning issue that has recently come to our attention in our 4th
and 5th grade classes. Over the past few weeks, there has been a troubling increase in the use
of derogatory language, including racial epithets and cultural slurs, among some of our
students. Upon investigation, we have discovered that many of these instances stem from
exposure to inappropriate content on platforms like YouTube and other social media channels.

To those families directly affected by previous incidents, we have already reached out. Should
there be any further occurrences involving your child, you will be promptly notified. We are
committed to working together to ensure our school remains a welcoming and safe environment
for all students.

All parents and guardians need to understand the gravity of this situation. Such language
violates NHCS Board Policy 1710/4020/7230 and undermines the inclusive and supportive
environment we strive to foster at our school.

We urge you to take an active role in monitoring your child's internet and social media usage
and engaging in open conversations about the impact of language. Please emphasize to your
child the importance of choosing kind and respectful words in all their interactions.

In partnership with families, we will reinforce our school community expectations during
sessions with our 4th and 5th grade classes. While we won't delve into specific incidents, we will
emphasize the importance of respectful communication and the consequences of violating
school policies.

We understand that addressing these issues can be challenging, and we are here to support
