INTRODUCTION
This operation manual explains functions and operations of the Detailed QA Software to
be performed on the DR Console.

For the other functions/operations, see “DR Console Operation Manual (M517-E102)”
and “DR Console User Utility Operation Manual (M517-E103)”.

OVERVIEW
The Detailed QA Software enables a user to perform processing such as GP (Tonal
Conversation Processing), RP (Spatial Frequency Processing), DRC (Dynamic Range
Control Processing), TAS (Tomographic Artifacts Suppression Processing), and MFP
(Multi-objective Frequency Processing) for the images read by the DR Console.

Each operation is performed on the Image Edit Screen of the DR Console.

1. OPERATIONS
Described herein are the procedures used to process images read in the DR Console on the
Image Edit Screen.

(1) Switching image processing mode

Display the “Image Edit Screen” and then select in the palette.

The processing mode will then change to display the “Detailed image processing parameter change box”
.

(2) Selecting image processing

Select the folder tab for a desired image processing to be performed.
To perform “DRC" or “TAS" processing, select the [DRC] or [TAS] button on the [GP/RP/
DRC] tab. [DRC] and [TAS] cannot be performed at the same time.
Refer to “2 Image processing parameters”for combinations of simultaneous processing.

Revision : First Edition Detailed QA Software Operation Manual
(3) Performing image processing
Select or to change values, and then select .

The display image will reflect the image processing performed.

Refer to “2 Image processing parameters” for image processing parameters.

(4) Completing image processing

Select to fix the image processing, or select . to cancel the image processing.

Note, however, that if has already been selected, image processing items performed
before selecting it cannot be canceled.

The image processing mode will return to the previous mode.

2. IMAGE PROCESSING PARAMETERS
Described herein are the characteristics of the image processing parameters of GP (Tonal
Conversation Processing), RP (Spatial Frequency Processing), DRC (Dynamic Range Control
Processing), TAS (Tomographic Artifacts Suppression Processing), and MFP (Multi-objective
Frequency Processing).

Some combinations of image processing may make simultaneous processing invalid. When selecting
image processing to be performed, consider the following processing flow since each image
processing is performed based on this flow.

(1) GP (Tonal Conversion Processing) Parameter

Parameter Characteristic Input Range
GA Inclination of the tonal curve. –4.0 to –0.1
Adjusts the contrast of images. 0.1 to 4.0
(the first decimal place excluding
0.0)
GT Shape of the tonal curve. A to Z (26 types)
Attains the same effect as changing γ curve of
various x-ray films.
GC Central density of inclination of the tonal curve. 0.3 to 2.64 (the second decimal
place)
Changes “GA” centering on the density
determined here.
GS Amount of parallel translation of the tonal curve. –1.44 to 1.44 (the second decimal
place)
Changes display density of the entire image.

(2) RP (Spatial Frequency Processing) Parameter
Parameter Characteristic Input Range
RN Enhanced frequency band in frequency 0 to 9 (10 ranks)
processings.
The frequency band determined here becomes
the subject of enhancement process.
RT Shape of enhancement curve according to the F, P to Z (12 types)
density of images.
By changing RT, the level of enhancement in the
specific density area can be adjusted to the area
with a specific density.
RE Level of enhancement of frequency processings. 0.0 to 9.9 (the first decimal
place)
Changes the strength of processings according
to the value. 1.0 10 to 16 (no decimal place)

(3) DRC (Dynamic Range Control Processing) Parameter

Parameter Characteristic Input Range
DRN Mask size of dynamic range control. 0 to 9 (10 sizes)
ets the area for processings along with“DRT”
DRT Type of dynamic range control filter. A to T (20 types)
Sets the density area for processings.
DRE Level of enhancement of dynamic range control 0.0 to 2.0 (the first decimal place)
filter processing.
Changes the strength of processings according to
the value.

* Disabled to subtraction images.

(4) TAS (Tomographic Artifacts Suppression Processing) Parameter

Parameter Characteristic Input Range
ORN Mask size of tomographic artifacts suppression. 0 to 9 (10 sizes)
Sets the most effective size according to the
tomographic angle.
ORE Level of enhancement of Tomographic artifacts 0.0 to 9.9 (the first decimal place)10 to
suppression. 16 (no decimal place)
Changes the strength of processings according to
the value.
ORD Processing direction of Tomographic artifacts 0: Vertical direction
suppression. 1: Horizontal direction
Sets according to the reading direction and the
orbital direction of tomography.

* Disabled to subtraction images.

(5) TAS (Tomographic Artifacts Suppression Processing) Parameter
Parameter Characteristic Input Range
Enhanced frequency band in spatial frequency A to Z (26 types)
processing.
MRB
The frequency band determined here becomes the
subject of enhancement processing.
Shape of enhancement curve according to the F, P to Z (12 types)
density of images.
MRT
By changing MRT, the level of enhancement can be
adjusted to the area with a specific density.
Level of enhancement of spatial frequency 0.0 to 9.9 (the first decimal place)
processing.
MRE 10 to 16 (no decimal places)
Changes strength of the processing according to
the value.
Frequency type of dynamic range control. A to Z (26 types)
MDB
Sets area for the processing along with “MDT”.
Type of dynamic range control filter. Sets density A to T (20 types)
MDT
area for the processing.
Level of enhancement of dynamic range control 0.0 to 2.0 (the first decimal place)
filter processing.
