The document describes the process of charging refrigerant into an air conditioning system. It involves first removing air from the system by closing valves, starting the compressor, and forcing air out through an open valve. Once a vacuum is maintained for 30 minutes, the system is deemed free of air. Refrigerant is then charged by opening the refrigerant cylinder and suction valves until the desired amount enters, as determined by the weight change in the cylinder.

The process of filling the refrigerant in the suction line –
compressor-discharge line-condenser is called as charging of refrigerant.
Procedure:-
Before charging of refrigerant air has to be removed from all
Equipments. For this following steps are to be followed.
Shut down the output of the compressor by closing the valve
V1. Close the refrigerant inlet valve V2. Open the valve V3(output from evaporator tubing) & valve V2(input to receiver). Start the compressor. The air from condenser ,evaporator & receiver is forced out through valve V5. After removal vaccum is produced in system, if this vaccum persist of 30 min it indicates system is free from air.
After expulsion of air valve V3 & V4 are closed.
For charging of refrigerant following steps are done:-
Open the cylinder valve V6 & compressor suction valve V2
Stop the compressor when sufficient amount of refrigerant has entered. Close the valve V2& V6
The quantity of refrigerant charged is observed by noting the
difference in the weight of the refrigerant cylinder. The amount of refrigerant to be charged depends upon capacity of system .
