CÁC LOẠI TỪ NỐI TRONG TIẾNG ANH

CONNECTIVES
1. Từ nối là các từ dung để nối giữa các vế câu trong câu ghép
VD: When I went out, I saw her
When là từ nối, nối giữa 2 vế của câu ghép
2. Có các loại từ nối như sau:
a. từ nối chỉ thời gian
b. từ nối chỉ nguyên nhân
c. từ nối chỉ kết quả
d. từ nối chỉ mục đích
e. từ nối chỉ điều kiện
3. Từ nối chỉ thời gian
When S+V, S+V
While S+V, S+V: trong khi
As soon as S+V, S+V: ngay khi …. (As soon as he got out of the house, it started to
rain)
Before N(time)/ S+V, S+V: trước khi … (before students go to school, they have to
finish their home work)= (before going to school, they have to finish their
homework)
Until +N/ S+V, S+V: cho tới khi (you are not allowed to go out until you finish your
home work)
Since S+V (Quá khứ đơn) S+V (hiện tại hoàn thành)
4. Từ nối chỉ nguyên nhân
Because S+V, S+V (bởi vì): He didn’t go to work because he was tired.
5. Từ nối chỉ kết quả
S+V, so S+V (vì thế): He was tired, so he didn’t go to work
6. Từ nối chỉ mục đích
S+V to do/ in order to do/ so as to do: (để mà) I learnt very hard to pass my exam/
so as to pass my exam/ in order to pass my exam
S+V not to do/ in order no to do/ so as not to do (để mà không) I learnt very hard
not/ in order not/ so as not to fail my exam
S+V (hiện tại) so that S will/ can do (để mà): I try to learn well so that I will earn a
lot of money
S+V (quá khứ) so that S would/ could do: I tried to learn well so that I would earn a
lot of money
7. Mệnh đề đối lập
Although / ɔːlˈðəʊ/ S+V, S+V (mặc dù): Although his family is poor, he studies well.
In spite of/ Despite + N, S+V: In spite of/ Despite his tiredness, he goes to work.
In spite of/ Despite + V-ing, S+V: In spite of/ Despite being tired, he goes to work.
S+V. However, S+V (Tuy nhiên): He is tired. However, he goes to work.
8. Unless= if….. not (nếu….. không)
Unless S+V, S+V = If S not do, S+V
If I am not tired, I will go out = Unless I am tired, I will go out
