3. Operative Clauses
- 1. Heading:
- Identifies the committee or council.
2. Numbering:
- Indicates sequence number, committee code, date, and draft number (e.g., UNGA Draft
Res. A/25.10.2005/1).
3. Subject:
- Must align with Countryside MUN sub-topics; off-topic submissions won't be accepted.
4. Sponsor:
- The initiating country; only one sponsor per resolution.
5. Signatories:
- Countries supporting discussion, regardless of agreement.
6. Preambulatory Clauses:
- Identifies problems, cites sources, and acknowledges relevant entities.
- References to the UN Charter, statements by the Secretary General, background
information, recognition of regional efforts, general statements, and past resolutions.
- The preamble is committee-specific, and preambulatory phrases are underlined and
separated by commas.
7. Operative Clauses:
- Dictate actions to solve the problem.
- Expresses a country's main policy goals.
- Numbered, ends with a semicolon, and the final clause ends with a period.
- Organised logically with each clause containing a single idea or policy suggestion.
8. Submission Process:
- Submitted to the committee board for approval.
- Checked for basic format and prerequisites.
- Examined by Countryside MUN Secretariat for compliance with international law,
compatibility, and language.
- The Secretariat may approve, disapprove, or modify the content.
Kindly note: Once submitted Draft resolution cannot be amended by the delegates
due to time constraints.
