PROJECT CAMPLAMIDAD: Safety in Calamity

I. Project Title: Camplamidad: Safety in Calamity

II. Project Proponent:

This project is spearheaded by the School Youth Disaster Risk And Reduction
Management (SYDRRM)

III. Project Rationale:

In pursuant with:

 Deped Core Values-MAKATAO and MAKABANSA

 DepEd Order 003, s. 2023 An Order Allowing the Conduct of In-person Activities in
School.
 DepEd Order No. 28, s. 2016 provides a comprehensive framework for the successful
implementation of the Strengthening the Fire Safety and Awareness Program in all
schools and DepEd offices.
 DepEd Order No. 37, s. 2015: This order sets the DepEd Disaster Risk Reduction
Management Framework. The framework outlines the four phases of DRRM
(prevention, mitigation, preparedness, response) and provides guidance on how schools
should integrate DRRM into their operations.

IV. Project Objectives:

 To educate students on fire safety procedures and equip them with the skills to handle fire
emergencies, enhancing their preparedness and safety awareness.

 To increase students' understanding of typhoon characteristics and empower them with

knowledge and skills to mitigate risks and ensure personal safety during typhoon events.

 To train students on essential earthquake safety techniques, enabling them to protect

themselves and others and effectively respond during earthquake emergencies.

 To teach students proper victim transfer techniques to enable them to safely and efficiently
assist injured individuals in emergency situations, enhancing their confidence and readiness
to respond.
 To equip students with practical skills in knot tying and bandaging techniques, enabling them
to provide effective first aid care and contribute to emergency response efforts in their school
and community.

V. Project Description:

The Camplamidad is a one day camp that will be conducted in school. Through this
camp, students will have a deeper understanding of the significance of being informed about the
different calamities that our region is experiencing at present and how they can prevent the harm
from getting worse. Additionally, the camp isn't about disasters only , but it also covers the
fundamentals of military training, which students may use to prepare for ROTC and college.

These are the list of activities;

Fire Safety and Prevention

In the fire safety and prevention, students will learn essential skills to effectively handle fire
emergencies and prevent potential hazards. Through interactive demonstrations and hands-on
practice, they will know on how to operate different types of fire extinguishers effectively. They
will learn the PASS method (Pull, Aim, Squeeze, Sweep) and gain practical experience using
extinguishers to control small fires safely. This activity will cover proactive measures to minimize
the risk of fires, including proper storage of flammable materials, regular inspection of electrical
systems, and safe handling of inflammable substances.

Typhoon Preparedness

In the typhoon preparedness, students will acquire important knowledge and skills to mitigate the
impact of typhoons and ensure personal safety. Students will learn about the characteristics of
typhoons, including their formation, tracking, and potential hazards such as strong winds, heavy
rainfall, and storm surges. They will also gain insights into the importance of early warning
systems and evacuation procedures. This activity will emphasize the importance of creating a
typhoon emergency kit containing essential supplies such as food, water, first aid supplies, and
important documents. Students will also learn how to secure their homes, reinforce windows and
doors, and develop family communication plans during typhoon events.

Earthquake Safety Training

In the earthquake safety training, students will learn important techniques to protect themselves
and others during earthquake. Students will understand the importance of quickly dropping to the
ground, taking cover under sturdy furniture, and holding on until the shaking stops during an
earthquake. Practical demonstrations and simulations will reinforce these life-saving actions. This
activity will outline evacuation procedures for various settings, including homes, schools, and
workplaces. Students will learn how to identify safe evacuation routes, assemble at designated
meeting points, and assist individuals with mobility impairments during evacuations.

First Aid - How to carry/transfer the victim

The first aid activity will focus on teaching students how to properly carry a victim in emergency
situations. Through hands-on demonstrations and practical exercises, participants will learn
various techniques such as the one-man carry, two-man carry, three-man carry, and six-man carry.
This crucial skill will empower campers to safely and effectively assist injured individuals until
professional help arrives, enhancing their confidence and readiness to respond in emergencies.

First Aid - How to tie a knot/bandage

In the first aid activity, students will learn essential skills in knot tying and bandaging techniques.
Through hands-on demonstrations and guided practice, participants will master various knots and
learn how to apply bandages effectively to different types of injuries. This interactive session aims
to equip campers with practical knowledge to respond confidently and effectively in emergency
situations, fostering a sense of preparedness and safety awareness.

Military Training

The military training activity incorporates team-building activities alongside rigorous training
exercises. Participants engage in traditional games like tug of war, fostering camaraderie and
teamwork. Additionally, they compete in wood races, promoting physical fitness and
coordination. These activities aim to strengthen bonds among participants and enhance their
overall effectiveness as a cohesive unit.
