Goddess of Rot (Recharges After a Short or Long Rest). If Malenia
would be reduced to 0 hit points, apply the following:
• Her current hit point total instead resets to 240 hit points
• Any conditions, spells, or effects other than her game
statistics end on her.
• She regains any expended uses of Legendary Resistance
• For 1 hour, her creature type becomes Aberration, she
grows wings and gains a flying speed of 60 ft.
• While she is an Aberration, she can use her Goddess of Rot
actions and reactions, and she uses her Scarlet Aeonia
reaction immediately.
• She recharges her Waterfowl Dance.
• Award a party an additional 50,000 XP (83,000 XP total) for
defeating Malenia after her Goddess of Rot activates.
Legendary Resistance (5/Day). If Malenia fails a saving throw, she
can choose to succeed instead.
Scarlet Rot. Malenia inflicts a horrible rotting curse on her foes.
A creature cursed with scarlet rot has the Poisoned condition
which can’t be removed until the curse is broken. A cursed
creature can’t regain hit points, and takes 16 (3d10) necrotic
damage at the start of each of its turns.
Actions
Multiattack. Malenia makes three melee attacks. She can
replace one attack with Waterfowl Dance or Scarlet Phantoms
(if available).
Unalloyed Blade. Melee Weapon Attack: +14 to hit, reach 10 ft.,
one target. Hit: 18 (2d10 + 7) slashing damage plus 7 (2d6)
radiant damage, and Malenia regains 5 hit points.
Rotting Blade (Goddess of Rot Form).
to hit with Advantage if the target is cursed with Scarlet Rot,
reach 10 ft., one target. Hit: 18 (2d10 + 7) slashing damage
plus 7 (2d6) necrotic damage, and Malenia regains 5 hit points.
If the target is a creature, it must succeed on a DC 21
Constitution saving throw or be cursed with Scarlet Rot.
Waterfowl Dance (Recharge 5–6). Malenia whirls her blade in
deadly arcs. Each creature within 30 feet of her must make a
DC 22 Dexterity saving throw, taking 33 (6d10) slashing
damage on a failed save, or half as much damage on a
successful one. Malenia regains 5 hit points for each creature
that failed. She can then teleport to an unoccupied space within
30 feet of her.
Scarlet Phantoms (Goddess of Rot Form , Recharge 5–6). Malena
sends up to 5 scarlet images of herself hurtling at creatures
within 120 feet of her. She makes one Rotting Blade attack from
the spirit’s space as if she occupies it. The spirit vanishes
immediately after the attack hits or misses.
Reactions
Malenia can take up to three reactions per round but only one
per turn.
Punishing Grab. When a creature within 5 feet of Malenia
misses her with an attack roll, the attacker must succeed on a
DC 22 Dexterity saving throw have the Grappled condition
(escape DC 22). Malenia then slams the Grappled creature into
the ground or other surface. The creature takes 14 (4d6)
bludgeoning damage and has the Prone condition. Malenia
must have at least one hand free to use this reaction.
Sudden Dash. When a creature ends its turn within 60 feet of
Malenia, she can move up to her speed without provoking
opportunity attacks.
Rotting Retaliation (Goddess of Rot Form). When a creature
within 10 feet of Malenia damages her, she can make one
Rotting Blade attack against the creature.
Scarlet Aeonia (Goddess of Rot Form). When Melania assumes
her Goddess of Rot form, she blossoms an intangible
apparition of a red, lotus-like flower that fills the area within 30
feet of her. Each creature in that area must make a DC 21
Dexterity saving throw. On a failed save, the creature takes 22
(4d10) necrotic damage and is cursed with scarlet rot. On a
successful save, the creature takes half as much damage and
isn’t cursed.
