BACKGROUND OF THE STUDY

Introduction

Since the evolution of Industrial Technology, various materials have been made in order

to benefit, help, and ease the lives of people. The use of different devices related to Industrial

Technology has grown in popularity because it allows people to work more efficiently and can

provide help in various tasks. It is important to select the right tools for the job. According to

Raja Usman, “Choosing the right tools for the job is not just a matter of convenience or personal

preference; it directly impacts our quality of work, safety, and ability to achieve desired

outcomes,” which is a testament that it is important to know each tool and understand their use.

One of the most commonly used tools is the saw. According to Shane Wilson, a writer from a

website called “How Stuff Works,” saws are cutting tools of different types and are used

depending on their function. This tool is crucial in terms of our daily lives, especially household

chores. This is also essential in different aspects of our community or profession, especially

carpentry, and furniture making.

Different saws have different functions. According to Kamron Sanders, there are

different types of saws and how you choose them will be crucial each use because each of

them has their own functions and abilities. To elucidate the diversity in saw types is crucial

because each type serves specific purposes and possesses unique capabilities. Hand saws,

commonly utilized for cutting wood and metal, are highlighted for their affordability and

independence from electricity. Conversely, electric-powered saws, such as Jig Saws, Miter

Saws, Chain Saws, and Circular Saws, are known for their high power and ability, enabling
them to cut through thick materials effectively. The distinct specifications of each saw type

differentiate them from one another, impacting their suitability for particular projects or

crafts. One of these saws is named Circular Saw because of its circular shape. This type of

saw is known to be portable, versatile, and can handle a wide variety of materials.

The circular saw is one of the most popular and powerful tools used today. Circular saws

are extremely versatile and useful for both DIY and professional applications. According to Jack

Huang, the advantages of versatility, ease of use, and efficiency have solidified the circular saw

as an essential tool for woodwork, construction, and even craftwork. Aside from aiding

individuals in terms of woodwork, it can also make the work faster and easier by minimizing the

bodily movements that are usually done by individuals during the construction of different

woodwork. Circular saw has been believed to be a part of history for a long time and is still

predominant in terms of helping individuals to regulate and ease their work. According to Jack

Huang’s article: The History of the Circular Saw, Samuel Miller is credited for the invention of

the first circular sawing machine in Britain. The rise of circular portable saw emerged in the 20th

century which allowed the precise control of cutting depth and proper direction in different

woodworks. Circular saws have undoubtedly evolved and gone to different improvements that

include safety and efficiency. This proves the importance of circular saws in our community

these days.

One of the main problems faced in using a circular saw is making sure that the edge is

straight and the cut is precise. This is one of the most common problems faced in hand saws and

power saws. According to Wandel, an engineer and content creator, a table saw could help in

different tasks so the researchers saw a window to create and solve this problem by building an

improvised table saw. This homemade, cheap, and accessible saw is essential to everyone using a
circular saw in their everyday life. This will increase the accuracy and precision of the circular

saw by providing a guide to cut the wood in the accurate measure or its desired style. This

Improvised Table Saw can help individuals, especially those who use circular saws in their daily

lives, to work easier and more efficiently as well as it can also reduce safety hazards. Through

this project, different individuals can access beneficial material that will help them in doing

different wood tasks without having to spend lots of money.
