5. Calculate the ∆H for the reaction described by the following equation:

C2H2(g) + H2(g) → C2H4(g)

Given:

(i) 2C2H2(g) + 5O2(g) → 4CO2(g) + 2H2O(l) ∆H = –2599.2 kJ mol–1

(ii) C2H4(g) + 3O2(g) → 2CO2(g) + 2H2O(l) ∆H = –1410.9 kJ mol–1

(iii) H2(g) + ½O2(g) → H2O(l) ∆H = –285.8 kJ mol–1

6. Given:

(i) N2O4(g) + ½O2(g) → N2O5(g) ∆H = +1.67 kJ mol–1

(ii) HNO3(g) → ½N2O5(g) + ½H2O(l) ∆H = –2.96 kJ mol–1

Calculate ∆H for the reaction represented by the following equation:

N2O4(g) + H2O(l) + ½O2(g) → 2HNO3(g)
