Mechanically Powered Vehicle Challenge – MPV Challenge

This challenge involves students building a vehicle out of bamboo sticks, tape, clipper and some other
stuff and racing them to see which vehicle travels the farthest distance.
Students will be given materials in a box and they will have to assemble them in a way that is best in
providing the required energy and then they will place their vehicles on the track where on releasing the
cars, they will move and the car that will go farthest will be declared the winner.

Materials Required (per vehicle):

 4 bamboo sticks
 Sticky tape or cardboard for center fixing of bamboo sticks
 Cardboard for wheels
 Clipper
 Rubber bands

Rules:
 The diameter of each wheel on the car should be 2 inches.
 The vehicle must have a cross configuration for the bamboo sticks, i.e. the sticks should be arranged in
a way that they form a cross.
 The vehicle should move forward in a way that the point of attachment of the 4 bamboo ticks moves
through the path at each moment and the x shape of the structure is maintained.
