a. Dependent Clause of Purpose (DP): S + V, + so that / in

* Phrase of purpose: (cụm từ chỉ mục đích)
S + V + in order (not) to + V(inf.) để mà../ để không..

b. Dependent clause of concession (DC) (mệnh đề phụ chỉ sự
tương phản)
Form: S +V + although/ though/ even though + clause (S + V)
(mặc dù/ cho dù)
* Phrase of concession: (cụm từ tương phản)
S + V + despite Noun phrase (the + adj + N)/
(her, his, my + N)
in spite of (not) + V-ing
Ex: Although he is so young, he plays the piano well.
Despite/ In spite of being so young, he plays the piano well.
c. Dependent clause of reason (DR): (mệnh đề phụ chỉ lí do)
Form: S + V, because/ as/ since + clause (S+V) (bởi vì)
* Phrase of reason: S + V, because of /due to/ owing to (not)
+ V-ing/ Noun phrase ( the + adj + N)/ (his, her, my +N)
Eg: We couldn’t go camping because the weather was bad.
=> We couldn’t go camping because of the bad weather.
d. Dependent clause of time (DT): (mệnh đề phụ chỉ thời gian)
Form: S + V, + when/ as soon as/before /after /while +
clause (S+V) , (Sau After S+ had + Vp.p, S +V2/ed, When I arrive,
I will send you a postcard)
