RESEARCH QUESTIONS

1. What is the maximum amount the sensor can detect the area for
possible risk?

2. What will be the impact source energy of the optical sensor to the
visually impaired people?

3. How can the integration of optical sensor technology enhance the

daily lives of visually impaired individuals?

4. What potential challenges may arise in implementing such

assistive solutions?

PROBLEM TO ADDRESS:

Producing a robot system capable of analyzing and preventing blind people for any risks
and hazards concerning their surroundings to move independently are a worldwide
problem considering their condition.

Additionally estimating the high costs associated with advanced sensor technologies
might limit accessibility, creating disparities in access to these helpful tools among
different socioeconomic groups.

Balancing the advantages of optical sensor assistance with careful consideration of

these risks is crucial for the effective and ethical implementation of this technology.

GOALS
The goal of this research project is to develop an optical sensor that will enable blind
individuals to work outside freely and autonomously without worrying about the
possibility of an accident. This optical sensor could make it easier for blind people to
complete everyday tasks like strolling across streets, using the pedestrian lane, and
avoiding obstacles like trees, walls, and posts. This research also aims to contribute to
the advancement of assistive technologies providing a more inclusive and effective tool
for individuals with visual impairments to navigate their surroundings with greater
independence and safety.

EXPECTED OUTCOMES
This optical sensor assist for blind people could enhance their mobility by providing real-time
environmental information, enabling them to detect obstacles for potential hazards, recognize objects,
and navigate more independently. This enhanced spatial awareness facilitates more accurate navigation,
helping users confidently maneuver through diverse environments

Additionally, it’s expected to be essential with its feature and manage the visually impaired people, with
the use of this technology, it can help them feel safer and increased sense of independence, allowing
blind individuals to explore and navigate unfamiliar places with greater ease and safety.

HYPOTHESES
H0:
"There is no significant improvement in the mobility and independence of blind individuals through the
implementation of the optical sensor assist system."
H1:
"The optical sensor assist system significantly improves the mobility and independence of blind
individuals in navigating unfamiliar environments."

RISK AND SAFETY

This study involved the use of electrical circuitry in conjunction with liquid water. The
robotic product it produced also utilized lithium ion batteries that may become dangerous if
handled improperly. Lastly, the robot uses high torque DC motors that can inflict harm if handled
improperly. These are the risks that may be encountered in this study.
