Statement of the Problem

This study aims to describe the influence of social media slang on the writing

skill of high school students.

Specifically, this study will seek to answer the following questions:

1. What is the profile of the respondents in terms of:

1.1 social media accounts; and

1.2 frequency in browsing social media apps?

2. What is the degree of familiarity with social media slang amongst the respondents?

3. What is the degree of utilization of social media slang amongst the respondents?

4. How does the degree of familiarity and utilization of social media slang of the

respondents differ when compared in terms of their profile?

5. What is the writing proficiency level of the respondents?

6. Do the respondents’ degree of familiarity and utilization of social media slang

significantly correlate to their writing skills?
