Supporting locally produced goods

Generations ago, the only option people had for shopping was to buy local, nowadays, things are
quite different, shopping has never been so easy. In today's market, there is an obvious lack of
support to local businesses, the public tends to look for supermarkets or shopping malls due to their
easier accessibility, product variety, and most of the time cheaper prices, even though shopping
elsewhere has a lot of advantages, buying locally is seen as one of the best ways to be
environmentally friendly while supporting and helping develop the regional economy, therefore it
should be encouraged. On that account, I will propose two possible directions that can be taken to
stimulate local small businesses.

The first strategy to help the local economy flourish would be to provide the community with
appropriate education, such as offering young people the proper education to develop
entrepreneurship and leadership skills. On that note, local business owners could also be offered a
seminar that would be lectured by business experts with the intuition to help their growth, brand
development and instruct them on achieving a higher reach of the public.

Personally, advertising goes a long way and local small businesses don't have enough publicity,
thus I believe that a campaign can be put together by town halls to promote and raise awareness to
these establishments. From my point of view, there is also a lack of community developing projects,
and since buying from places other than local has so many benefits, I think that local power entities
should invest time and some money to put together projects to motivate the public to buy from
their local shops.

Given these points, you could undoubtedly expect great results, because, given the proper
attention, these businesses have no other way to go but up, and by buying locally you are not only
helping these shop owners, you are helping yourself and the community around you.
