5.1 Site Planning & Preparation
5.1.1 Material Receipts & Storage facilities:
The levelled lay down area for storage/assembly of materials shall be provided by client as per the agreed locations. The
temporary lay down area shall be barricaded and fenced around with signage for stacking the materials. Limited materials only
shall be kept on the floor where the columns and beams located.
 All deck sheet & materials on receipt at site by trailers shall be unloaded at designated location or at the erection
location by crane or farana.

 Materials shall be properly identified and stacked on wooden planks clear off the ground. Stacking shall facilities easy
identification and inspection.

5.1.2 The sequence of installation of metal deck sheet shall be followed as given below:
 Unloading and storing of deck sheets.

 Lifting and positioning of deck sheets on floor beams.

 Installation or laying of decking

 Fixing of decking by screws

 Deck stud welding

 Testing of welded shear studs.

 Inspection and hand over to concrete work

5.1.3 Safety Pre-cautionary Method

 Typical life line precautions will be provided and ensured prior to start deck sheet laying.

 During first floor deck installation ground level need to be barricaded 3M away from the deck slab boundary and any
unauthorized entry shall be restricted by a watcher.

 Cut-out openings will be closed by catch net or metal planks.

5.1.4 Sequence of Metal deck installation

PAGE \* MERGEFORMAT 7 | Page

 Upon inspection and completion of bolting and alignment of floor beams, the respective metal deck sheet bundles shall be
placed over the beams.

 The sheet bundles shall be opened and the deck sheets shall be placed adjacently one after another by riggers manually.

 Deck sheet shall be spread as per the approved drawing the sequence.

 Upon placing the sheets, the sheets shall be screwed to fix the sheets firmly over the steel beams.

 The stud shall be placed on the deck sheets as per the spacing provided in the drawings and welded by stud welding
machine or manual arc welding machine

 The edge trims/closure angles shall be installed and screwed to the beams and sheets, as shown in the drawings.

 Upon completion of stud welding on floor/bay, the same shall be inspected and handed over to the further activities (fixing
of reinforcement mesh & casting of concrete slab by others).

5.1.5 Brief Description of procedures for Metal Decking installation

 Metal deck shall be delivered to site normally as packed into bundles and the sheets are secured with metal straps.

 Each bundle shall have an identification tag (including bundle number/floor level/length/quantity). The information on each
tag is to be checked ensured for its correctness of delivery upon arrival.

 Visual inspection shall be carried out for any damage.

 The bundle shall be lifted from trailer using crane or farana.

 The bundles of deck sheets shall be unloaded by crane using protected webbing belts to avoid damage to deck sheets.

 Decking bundles shall be stored and placed in the allocated area on the timber packers.

 The bundles shall be placed on, bearers which provide a gentle slope to allow any condensation or rain to drain and free
flow of air around the bundle.

 The bundle shall not be stored more than 4 high (1.2m max) and no other materials shall be placed over them.

 The identification tag shall be used to ensure positioning bundle on frame.

 The bundle shall be placed in such a way that the interlocking side laps are on the same side to avoid turning sheets.

 Prior to the lifting of bundles, span orientation position shall be checked as per the drawings.

 The bundle shall be opened only when all sheets can be positioned and secured.

 The sheet laying shall be carried out grid by grid, as per the construction sequence.

 Sheets shall be provided as per the approved drawing with a minimum bearing on steel support beams and ends of adjacent
sheets shall be butted together. The longitudinal edges shall be overlapped as specified.

 Decking sheets must be fixed to the top of the steel beams. All fixings shall be made through the through in the decking as
given the drawings.

 The surface of the beams, where deck sheets are to be placed shall be ensured that it is free from water, dirt & debris etc.

 The deck sheets shall be properly aligned and fixed to the beams using tack weld at the required locations as per the spacing
provided in the decking drawings.

PAGE \* MERGEFORMAT 7 | Page

 The sheet to sheet (side overlap fixing) shall be carried out using self-tapping screws as marked in the drawings.

 The edge trims, strips and angle closure shall be fixed as shown in decking layout and fixed similar to decking.

 Once layout and fixing ensured thoroughly, stud welding shall be carried out as per the sequence. The area underneath the
stud welding work shall be barricaded and unauthorized entry shall be restricted by a watcher.

 Inspection shall be carried out for proper welding of shear studs, as per the ITP.

 Bend tests shall be carried out randomly, as per approved ITP.

 After completion of inspection, the area shall be handed over to the client for further slab concreting.

5.1.6 Stud Welding

 The stud shall be welded at the distance as shown in the drawings by stud welding machine with gun. While welding of stud,
it shall be ensured that no gap is between deck sheet and supporting structure member.

 Ceramic ferrules shall be placed on bottom of the studs while welding with stud guns to serve as shield to the arc.

 After completion of stud welding, the ferrules shall be broken free and cleaned.

 Manual fillet welding shall be carried out at the locations where stud machine gun does not reach or not possible to weld by
stud gun. When manual welding is carried out, it shall be ensured that the stud is directly welded to the supporting
beams and of equivalent to the weld thickness of machine welding (Fillet size as per our requirement).

5.1.7 Touch-up Paint Procedure

The Primer touch up work shall be carried out on the connections locations, welded and damage area.

 The approved primer only shall be used for touch up work.

 The surfaces must be clean and dry. Using mechanical cleaning method, dirt, dust oil and all other contaminations shall be
