Task: Newton's Laws in Action: Investigating Motion in Daily Life

Task Overview: In this summative project, you will explore and apply Newton's Laws of
Motion to a real-world situation of your choice. You will conduct research, design and
conduct experiments, and present your findings to demonstrate your understanding of these
fundamental principles of physics.
Task Steps:
Step 1: Choose a Scenario Select a specific scenario or real-world situation where you can
observe and analyze motion. This could be related to sports, transportation, amusement parks,
or any other context that interests you.
Step 2: Research

a. Research and provide background information about the chosen scenario.

b. Identify the three laws of motion (Newton's First, Second, and Third Laws) and explain
them in the context of your chosen scenario.

c. Clearly define the problem or question you will investigate within the scenario.

Step 3: Experimentation

a. Design and conduct experiments to gather data related to the motion in your scenario.

b. Apply Newton's Laws to analyze and interpret the data you collect.

c. Calculate relevant quantities such as forces, accelerations, and velocities.

d. Ensure that you use proper measurement techniques and equipment.

e. Document your experiments, observations, and results in a clear and organized manner.

Step 4: Analysis

a. Analyze the data and discuss how Newton's Laws of Motion apply to the scenario.
b. Identify any discrepancies between your experimental findings and theoretical predictions.

c. Explain the implications of your findings and what they reveal about the physics involved
in the scenario.

Step 5: Presentation or Report Create a presentation or a detailed report that communicates

your project's findings and conclusions.

Setp 6: Discuss the implication of your project finding on real life situations.

Include the following elements:

 Introduction and background information.

 Clear formulation of the problem/question.

 Description of experimental procedures and data collection.

 Analysis of the data using Newton's Laws.

 Discussion of discrepancies and their possible reasons.

 Conclusion summarizing the key insights gained from your investigation.

 Visual aids, such as graphs, diagrams, Images of your experiments or videos, to

enhance understanding.

 References must be included in report in MLA format

Step 7: Presentation Present your project findings to the class. Be prepared to answer
questions and engage in a discussion about your chosen scenario and the application of
Newton's Laws
