Rhetorica The debating society, FSS, BHU, is one of
the largest cultural societies of BHU, Rhetorica
stands at the forefront when it comes to debating
and public speaking at university level.We promote
rationality, awareness, humanism which can be
observed by our motto RESEARCH RATIONALISE
REPRESENT.

ABOUT THE EVENT


In this event of Rhetorica’s Asian Parliamentary
Debate enthusiastic youngsters will engage in
meaningful discussions, debates and deliberations
on a range of urgent plethora of issues. By
embracing the perspective of individuals in positions
of power, they will gain a holistic view of the
multifaceted aspects that shape our society.
Through their active participation in various
committees and parliamentary sessions, they will
refine their critical thinking, public speaking,
negotiation, and teamwork skills.

MODE
Purely online event via Google meet

GENERAL RULES OF THE DEBATE


Platform : Debates will be conducted via
Google Meet.
Team Size : Each team will consist of 3 members.
Motions : Motions will be revealed after teams
enter the Google Meet room. Teams will rank
their preferences, and the motion with mutual
agreement will be selected.
Preparation Time : Teams will have 20 minutes
to prepare after the motion is announced.
Video Requirement : Teams must keep their
video on during preparation.
No Communication : No communication is
allowed within teams after motions are released.

Punctuality : Teams must arrive on time for the debate;
late arrivals forfeit the round.
Language : Use of foul language leads to disqualification.
Internet Connection : Candidates must have a stable
internet connection to participate.
Violation Penalties : The organizing committee may
penalize or disqualify teams for rule violations.
Format : Two preliminary rounds where each team
represents both government and opposition,
followed by knockout rounds.

ADJUDICATOR POLICY
Judge Rule: N=N, i.e., one judge per team (not applicable
to composite teams or institutions with only one team
representative)

REGISTRATION PROCESS
Step 1- Participants need to fill details in the Google form
before 10 March , 2024 through the given link-

Step 2- The participants will have to pay the registration


fees of Rs. 250 per person i.e, Rs 750 per team of 3
members and the adjudicators will have to pay Rs. 200
per person.

Step 3- After Successful Payment, participants will be
informed about the same and they need to follow further
instructions, which the participants will be receiving
through emails and whatsapp groups.

ELIGIBILTY
The competition is open to all the students affiliated
to any recognized university/institution/School(8-12
class)
By applying for the competition, the teams shall be
deemed to have accepted the terms and conditions
of the organizing committee
