Hello, my name is Sofia, and I will be discussing the sci-fi steven Spielberg ’s movie: “Ready
Player One,” based on the book of the same name by Ernest Cline. The movie was realized
on March 29th of the year 2018.

The story unfolds in the 2040s within OASIS, a virtual reality universe, like the metaverse: a
concept introduced by Facebook. Since the metaverse but since isn’t out yet, I will make a
comparison to VR Chat. Our protagonist is a teenager named Wade Watts, more known as
Parzival.

When the owner of OASIS, a wealthy individual with no heir, passes away, he leaves behind
a series of riddles and prizes for the one who can solve them. The last prize is the inheritance
of Halliday, which includes the ownership of OASIS and all its earnings.

Parzival, along with his friends including his love interest Art3mis and best friend Aech, must
compete with Innovative Online Industries (IOI), a heartless and powerful corporation with
numerous employees trying to take control over OASIS. In the end, Parzival wins, primarily
because, in the final stage, where you win the administration of Oasis, you must play “IT.”
However, all of IOI employees attempted to win the game, but the real solution was to find an
Easter egg related to “IT”.

I like the movie, it was quite entertaining, especially for the visual effects and explosions that
are essential in any steven Spielberg movie. And the animation with motion capture was
pretty good, and I emphasize that it was produced on a year, even if they had complications
with the type of animation.

However, the movie is just entertaining, is like the type of movies you watch on Sundays
with friends to laugh while you eat, and that’s okay. I guess not every movie has to make you
have an existential crisis, but as a person who had an idea of ready player one before of the
movie because my dad used to tell me about the book, I expected more of it in the movie. But
I think it isn’t fair to compare the book, especially because some things were changed.

One aspect I truly enjoyed about the movie is the reference to “The Shining,” which wasn't in
the book. “The Shining” differs from the book, like “Ready Player One”, allowing us to make
a parallel between the two. Despite the differences, I respect the unique qualities of both the
book and the movie.

However, it's important to note that these thoughts are purely my opinion. I encourage you to
watch this movie and form your own perspective. Until next time, and Goodbye!
