1. Overview: This course involves the management of general surgical, abdominal, pulmonary,
cardiac, shocks, burns and plastic surgical conditions. Identification and description of the
instruments used for investigation and practice for management of general surgical,
abdominal, pulmonary, cardiac, shocks, burns and plastic surgical conditions will be
discussed.

2. Course Objectives: The student should be able to describe the management of general
surgical, abdominal, pulmonary, cardiac, shocks, burns and plastic surgical conditions with
a special emphasis on conditions involving Physiotherapy & rehabilitation.

3. Course Outcomes: The student will be able to explore, identify, understand, and relate to
the following:

CO1 Demonstrate comprehensive understanding of general surgery, shock,


hemorrhage, burns.

CO2 Demonstrate comprehensive understanding of plastic surgery, tendon


transfer, cosmetic surgery, grafts.

c) Shock - definition, types, clinical features, pathology and

f) Description of events frequently accompanying in general
anesthesia, blood transfusion and physiological response of the
body to surgery.
g) Abdominal surgery: Incisions, complications and management of
various abdominal surgeries, like appendicectomy, gastrectomy,
cholecystectomy, hepatectomy.
h) Wounds and wound infections, Sinuses, fistula & ulcers with
types.
i) Burns: Degrees of burns and, management and reconstructive
surgery following burns and complications of Burns.
