TITLE :- HOW TO IMPROVE PICOSH CLUB IN NEXT 5

YEARS

INTRODUCTION-

DEFINITION OF (OSH) -

Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) is a

multidisciplinary field concerned with the safety,health
and welfare of people at work.

The goals of occupational safety and health programs

include to foster a safe and healthy work environment.
OSH may also protect co-workers,family
members,employers,customers and many others who
might be affected by the workplace environment.

In common-law jurisdictions,employers have a

common law duty to take reasonable care of the safety
of their employees.
BACKGROUND OF CLUB -
Diploma in Occupational Safety and Health was
introduced at PUSRAWI International College of
Medical Science (PICOMS) in 2014. The commitee of
Occupational Safety and Health Club were agreed to
establish a club called PICOSH. The name PICOSH was
produced by combining the name of PICOMS and OSH.
The date of the establishment is 8th December
2014,now it has been 3 years since club establishment.
The earliest member of PICOSH is 9 people and now it
has increase to 250 members. We have created our
own Occupational Safety and Health portal to ease
students and public to access information about
PICOSH club. The main objective of this club is to
introduce the concept of occupational safety and
health in education at PICOMS, to be the leading
centre of excellence in occupational safety and health
in Malaysia and to be the preferred partner in
enhancing occupational safety and health.
MISSION AND VISION OF PICOSH -

Mission :

To become a major association the the helm of

Occupational Safety and Health.

Vision :

To give support to students in order to achieve

their targets in academic.

Motto :

THINKS SAFETY,ACTS SAFELY

SUMMARY -
In Malaysia,Occupational Safety and Health is very
important because many workplace do not have
the Safety and Health Department. It will expose
workers to danger in many ways. It is necessary to
have at least one Safety and Health Department
to help employers and employees to avoid any
accidents. Their goal was to make sure employers
provide their workers a place of employment free
from dangers and hazards. Safety and Health
Department also will make sure both employers
and employees can do work in a safe and sound
environment. Safety and Health Department will
do work according to the OCCUPATIONAL SAFETY
AND HEALTH ACTS 1994 (OSHA 1994) and
FACTORIES AND MACHINERY ACTS (FMA).
IDEAS TO IMPROVE PICOSH :
1. PICOSH members have to choose the right
person to handle the organisation wisely. A
good leader must have leadership qualities
that will make him/her different from a bad
one. Most important thing is honesty and
integrity. Second is commitment and passion
in doing work to make sure the work will go
as planned. Also leader will need assistant
and that will be an assistant,a treasurer,a
media social holder,a secretary. An assistant
will be the leader's helper in organizing
trips,programs and many more. A treasurer
will handle the finance of the clubs and all the
money will be use to support all the
programs. A media social holder will do jobs
like promote program on the Internet,editing
videos and photos and many more. A
secretary job will be handing out flyers,give
information about programs to other
members.
2. PICOSH club should plan an outdoor
activities such as hiking,camping,motivation
camp to make sure all the members will get
along together and know each other well.
This will help PICOSH members to be more
friendly and be nice to each other,beside that
by doing some outdoor activities we can keep
our body in a good shape and stay healthy.
This activities will also make PICOSH members
to be more discipline. Stay fit and stay healthy
will bring many benefits to our body and our
positive energy. This will be an advantage to
PICOSH members when they're working on
site or off-shore. Also, this kind of programs
wouldn't cost PICOSH a lot amount of money.
3. Create an account of PICOSH Club in media
socials. This club has begun to attract
students and public to gain information about
OSH. This could be an effective way to make
sure public knows about PICOSH and will
participate in PICOSH programs in future. This
method is to bring new comers into PICOSH
by using the Internet. Student and public are
likely to use Internet so this is a suitable way
to attract them in this kind of digital era.
CONCLUSION -
I hope in next 5 years,PICOSH will achieve success
after work hard and work together as a team.
There is many other ways to bring PICOSH to
success,this is what I could list. It will be a honour
to help PICOSH improve. PICOSH already have a
big chance to a bright future. It will need a lot of
hard work and efforts to bring PICOSH to success
but it is worth it. In 5 years PICOSH will be a well-
known club that can give people more
information about Occupational Safety and Health
and encourage them to participate in Safety and
Health field.
