A student is considered officially dropped only upon submission of the
instructor’s copy of the duly accomplished dropping slip before the scheduled
DROPPING deadline for dropping. A student who has dropped the course but fails to
submit the instructor’s copy at least two (2) weeks before the last day of

MISSED ACTIVITIES grade of zero. Unexcused exam absence will automatically merit the student a
grade of zero. For an excused exam absence, the student will be given a
grade of INC and a chance to take the equivalent examination, i.e. similar
topics, in a future Specs 500 class. A valid excuse is qualified as either death

student’s duty to establish the veracity of the excuse. This should be

coordinated with the instructor as soon as possible/in the meeting following
the exam. Only one examination may be excused in this manner.

Special Exam/Missed Major Exam

If you have missed faculty-conducted exam due to illness or misadventure,
you may apply for an alternative exam. (refer to student handbook)

Special Circumstances/Special Needs

Students with disability or ongoing illness can make arrangements with the
professor/instructor regarding the different assessment tasks (e.g. projects,
exam, quiz) to minimize or eliminate the impact of his/her disability. However,
meeting the learning objectives of the subject must be observable. The
arrangements will involve modifications of the assessment tasks (e.g.
performance task) but maintain academic standards. (refer to RA 7227)

Special Consideration/Missed Activities

Special consideration consists of the exercise of academic discretion to provide
equitable treatment to students whose performance in an assessment item is
affected by illness, accident or work-related circumstances and for single
parent (as per RA 8972/Solo Parent Act).
You should only apply for special consideration when your performance in an
assessment item, including examinations, has been affected by extenuating or
special circumstances beyond your control. Special consideration is not
automatically guaranteed and may not result in a mark adjustment. (faculty
discretion)
For students involved in religious, sports and cultural activities (athletes,
performing artist) will also be given considerations, only if they present the
program of activity and excuse letter from their respective pastor or coaches.

(refer to student manual/memo from OUP)

It is expected that the student follows the highest principles of academic

honesty. Any form of work that will be submitted should be their own or
should have the work of others clearly documented and acknowledged. All
students must be committed to the principles of intellectual honesty and
integrity. Once found responsible of an academic dishonesty violation
(cheating, fabrication, plagiarism, sabotage, participation in academically
dishonest activities, facilitating academic dishonesty, etc), a student will be
ACADEMIC INTEGRITY subjected to the University's rules and regulations which may result to a failing
mark and expulsion from the university.
Cheating in quizzes, homework, and exams, as well as academic dishonesty in
general, will not and never be tolerated. Any attempt at cheating in any
requirement will entail the student an automatic grade of 5.00, and the case
will be forwarded to the Student Disciplinary Council (SDC). Course
withdrawals to avoid getting a grade of 5.0 in these cases will not be
permitted. (refer to Student Handbook)

Due to this pandemic face to face consultation is not encouraged. To ensure

the instructor’s availability, schedule an appointment with the instructor.
Consultation via e-mail is encouraged as well. Please state your question as
CONSULTATION completely as possible. Consultation through phone will only be entertained if
the student introduces himself/herself and follows courteous language. (refer
to faculty manual/individual faculty teaching load)

SPECIAL SERVICES If you are a student with special needs and require accommodations, you

Annex B
ACVITIES REQUIRED FOR SUCCESSFUL COMPLETION OF BA CORE 7

Agreement between Faculty and Student: All students are required to read, sign, and return the agreement between the faculty and student.

Bibliographic Info: Post a brief biography about yourself by sharing with the class a little bit about: Who are you? Where are you from? What is your major?
What are your interests and/or hobbies? Why are you taking the course? What do you hope to get out of this course? What is your current career goal?

Discussion: The chapter discussion threads are an important part of students’ learning. Failure to post will have negative impact on students’ participation
grades. Students should plan to participate throughout the semester. It is the responsibility of each student to keep up with the scheduled readings
and discussions. Once the discussion boards have been closed, they will not be re-opened.

REFLECTIONS POST: The intent of the topic discussion is for you to post your critical comments, assessments, insights, or questions on the readings for
the week. You may choose to comment on one of the readings, a chapter, article, or several. We all will have read the content so you should not restate
the content.

COMMENT TO OTHERS: For every week, a discussion is assigned within the course, each learner must post replies to a minimum of two different
original reflections posts created by other learners. The idea is that asynchronous discussion will develop among all of us.

Discussion for each week should be posted by the specified due date(s) in the Schedule of Activities. Please do not attach a document to your posts.
Simply write within the text/comment field of the message. Entries should be no longer than the equivalent of one page in length.

Quizzes/Activities: There will be weekly quizzes given to assess your understanding of course material and assigned readings. See the schedule of activities for
approximate due dates. Please note: Extensions or Make-ups will NOT be given. If a student misses the deadline for a quiz, the student will earn a
grade of zero.

Attendance: Attendance is taken in the synchronous event. To mark present, the student should be present during the scheduled videoconferencing. Students
not meeting the minimum attendance requirement for synchronous meeting means unable to comply with one requirements for passing this course.

Major Exams: There will be two major examinations for the entire semester to assess your term understanding of the course material. Please note:
Extensions or Make-ups will NOT be given. If a student misses the deadline for the major exam, the student will earn a grade of zero.

Paper 1 Research Topic: Submit an idea for a research study based on a business/economic problem. Write the title of the study. Explain your overarching aim
for the study. What is the problem? Why are you passionate about it? What is the significance of it? Draft at least two research questions. Consider vague
definitions. This paper must follow APA format. More details about this assignment are provided within the class. Please refer to the schedule of activities for the
approximate due date.

Paper 2 Annotated Bibliography: Prepare and submit an annotated bibliography of ten (10) articles from academic, peer-reviewed and/or scholarly journals.
These articles should be related to your idea for a research study (e.g., Paper 1). The annotated bibliography will serve as a resource for developing and writing
your literature review and research proposal. This paper should be formatted according to the 6th edition of the APA publication manual (examples of reference
formats are also available at http://www.apastyle.org/). More details about this assignment are provided within the class. Please refer to the schedule of activities
for the approximate due date.

Paper 3 Literature Review: Prepare and submit a relevant literature review to allow your reader some insight into the background of your topic (e.g., Papers 1
& 2). This paper must follow APA format and be approximately 4 pages double-spaced. The reference list is not counted in the page limit. You need to have at
least 4 references in your paper from peer-reviewed journals. More details about this assignment are provided within the class. Please refer to the schedule of
activities for the approximate due date.

Paper 4 Research Proposal: Prepare and submit Chapters 1 to 3 indicating the background of the problem, the problem statement, the purpose of the study,
the study’s hypothesis(es), a review of the literature (this should be your revised and improved version of Paper 3) and the methodology to be employed in your
proposed study. You will develop a questionnaire to be used to solve your problem. In a Prospectus, you will devise a research plan that will explain your ideas in
a structured format for your analysis – You will do everything except collect the data. This paper must follow APA format. More details about this assignment are
provided within the class. Please refer to the schedule of activities for the approximate due date.

Oral Defense: Prepare to defend the research proposal before a panel of evaluators for critiquing/comments/suggestions. Revisions have to be incorporated to
