Step 1:
Develop the single line diagram of the proposed scheme showing the interconnection
of the plant with the grid substation. Mark all the vital data on the single line diagram.
Generator transformer: Z = 12% on own rating, X/R = 20, YNd11, 220/11 kV,
X/R = 20, ±5% tap, 9 taps, OFTC.
Power transformer: Z = 10% on own rating, X/R = 20, YNyn0, 220/132 kV,
X/R = 20, +5%/-15% tap, 17 taps, OLTC.

___
The plant is scheduled to generate about 90% of its rated power. Perform the load
flow and list the following:
Reactive power generation:-
Total active power loss in the 100 km double circuit transmission line:
The real and reactive power export to grid:
Use fast decoupled load flow, slack bus concept, convergence tolerance as 0.001 and
15 number of iterations.
Reactive power control:
We will find that the system will be exporting active power while importing reactive
power from the main grid at 220 kV substation. What are the ways by which you can
minimize the reactive power drawl from the grid?
Action 1: Reactive power drawn in MVAR –
Action 2: Reactive power drawn in MVAR –
Combined action: Reactive power drawn in MVAR –
3. Fault Study:
If three phase dead short circuit occurs at the power plant 220 kV bus, what is
the fault current?
What is the voltage at the generator terminal and the far end grid bus for the
fault at power plant 220 kV bus?
Results:
Three phase fault current:
Post Fault Generator bus voltage :
Post Fault Grid bus voltage:
