The crystalline admixture, ShaliCrystal 100 shall be admixed with the entire concrete for better
waterproofing.
METHOD STATEMENT

Substrate Preparation:-

All Surfaces - It is essential to create a sound and solid substrate to eliminate membrane movement during the
concrete pour. Substrates must be regular and smooth with no gaps or voids greater than 12mm.

Horizontal Blinding - Substrate should be monolithic concrete. The blinding must be free of loose aggregate,
hollows and sharp protrusions. An angular profiled blinding is recommended rather than a rounded substrate.
ShaliHDPE SA is a rigid sheet and will not stretch under the weight of concrete to conform to undulations.

All horizontal concrete surfaces receiving the membrane shall be treated in accordance with the membrane
manufacturer's requirements. Voids and honeycombed areas shall be made good with a pre-
bagged proprietary repair material. All horizontal surfaces receiving the membrane shall be smooth and in
accordance with the membrane manufacturer's requirements. All abrupt irregularities, voids and
honeycombed areas shall be made good with a pre-bagged proprietary repair material. All surfaces shall be
clean, smooth, free of laitance, dry and free of dust, frost, mould release agents, curing compounds and sharp
protrusions at the time of installation. Where a hard-core bed is specified, Monolithic concrete blinding is
preferred with not less than 50 mm thickness, which should be regular, smooth and free of loose aggregate
and sharp protrusions.
METHOD STATEMENT

Vertical Blinding - The concrete should be laid to a regular surface free from dust, sharp protrusions and
hollows. The membrane shall be tucked with the shuttering with the same pattern and after that the concrete
shall be cast so that the bonding between the membrane and the structure is ensured.

Method Statement – Application of ShaliHDPE SA on blended concrete surface for basement

Laying of Membrane: -

ShaliHDPE SA can be applied at temperature of -4 °C or above. During cold or damp condition, the selvedge
and tape adhesive can be gently warmed using a hot air gun or similar to remove moisture or condensation
and improve initial adhesion.

Horizontal surface

For Horizontal Substrate, place ShaliHDPE SA film side to the substrate with granular side up facing towards
the concrete pour. End laps should be staggered to avoid a build-up of layers. Leave plastic release liner in
position until overlap procedure is completed. Accurately, position succeeding sheets to overlap the previous
sheet 75 mm along the marked selvedge. Ensure the underside of the succeeding sheet is clean, dry and free
from contamination before attempting to overlap. Peel back the plastic release liner from between the
overlaps as the two layers are bonded together. Ensure a continuous bond is achieved without creases and roll
firmly with a heavy roller. Completely remove the plastic liner to expose the protective coating before
subsequent works start.

Vertical Surface

SuperTene® 7 is a self-adhesive SBS (Styrene Butadiene Styrene) based pre-formed waterproofing membrane
with high density 4 ply cross laminated tough polyethylene film on one side and easy-to-peel silicon film on the
other side.
METHOD STATEMENT

METHOD STATEMENT

Termination of the membrane (vertical end) should be done 300mm above the ground level.
(Please share your drawing so that we can prepare a case specific drawing with the detailing)

Construction Joint detail

Pipe penetration/cut-outs/construction joints etc.

METHOD STATEMENT

Pipe Penetration method:

First, the surface should be cleaned and provided with an acrylic swellable profile
(ShaliWaterbar 800, 10mmx10mm) with an acrylic adhesive to fix it. Same should be done on
the pipe surface as well.

After the installation of pipes and penetration is complete, the cored holes shall be filled up
with ready to use concrete ShaliFix MC with a bonding agent ShaliSBR Latex (SL :
water:cement :: 1:4:6).

Injection Grouting at the construction joint/leakages/seepages/honeycombs

Along the construction joint, there has to be a V groove to be cut and cleaned.
METHOD STATEMENT

Along the construction joint, drill hole up to half of the depth of the concrete and fix PVC nozzles min. 12mm
dia, 0.5 m C/C from the interior surface of retaining wall/base slab with the help of ShaliSBR Latex modified
mortar (4% by weight of cement) with a bond coat of ShaliSBR Latex (1:4:6:: Sh:W:C by weight).

Inject Cement slurry enriched with ShaliGrout IP- non shrink grouting compound through the fixed nozzle in a
pressure of 2.5-3 kg /cm2 with the help of hand operated grouting pump. Injection operation should be
executed after curing of concrete. The nozzle should be inserted at least 25mm depth inside the hole.

All holes are first plugged with proper wooden plugs or locked in the case of PVC nozzles. The bottom most
plug and the two adjacent plugs are removed and water injected in the bottom most hole under
pressure.

When the clear water comes out through the adjacent holes the injection of water is stopped and the
plugs in the bottom most hole and the one immediately above are restored.

The process of grouting of concrete cracks is repeated with other holes till all the holes are covered. On
the day of grouting all the plugs are removed to drain out excess water and restored before commencing
grouting.

The same sequence as described above is adopted for injecting the cement grout also. The grout is kept
fully stirred/ agitated under pressure throughout the grouting.

The grouting is carried out till refusal and/ or till grout starts flowing from the adjacent hole. A proper
record of the quantity of grout injected into every hole should be maintained.

After grouting, curing should be done for14 days. Only such quantities of material for preparing grout should
be used, as can be used within 15 minutes of its mixing. Grouting equipment must be cleaned thoroughly after
use.

The material of injection grouting is as follows:

Cement 1 part (by weight)

ShaliGrout IP (expanding grout admixture for anti shrink purpose) 1% by weight of cement W/C 0.4 to 0.5 (by
weight).
